This kinda reminds me of a cartoon called "Pinky and the Brain". It's about two lab rats. Pinky is a happy go lucky, goofy and carefree character with no ambitions what so ever that is happy with his world as a lab rat. The other fellow "The Brain" on the other hand is an intelligent, crafty, determined and ambitious character with one goal in life which is to rule the world. He often comes up with crazy ideas that always fails at the end of the day, but he never gives up trying to actualize his dreams for total world domination. Episode after episode, he still pursues his dream.
This two characters can be likened to our early childhood days when we don't have any cares in the world. And our adulthood, where we have to find our path in life and work to achieve them.
