I agree that this mindset is great, but I believe there are exceptions. It is possible to spend your life not giving up on something you're focused on and still end up no where. Sometimes it is better to let go and move on to new things to focus and put your heart into. In this case, it would seem like you gave up on something, but I see it as opening up more opportunities.
