The Struggle of Breaking Out of Your Routine to Improve Your Life...

in #mindset5 years ago

Hi dear Steemians!

A waking call is something that we all experience at some point in our lives.

The waking call compels us to make change in our lifestyle and improve the general state of our livelihood.

But even though some people might experience an incident or a moment of enlightenment, they hardly push themselves to change and break out of their habits and routines.

The reason is that making change in your life can be a difficult struggle.

This is specifically true for the uninitiated; those who have spent a lifetime creating lasting habits.

I remember a friend of mine from years ago who always struggled with his identity and purpose in life.

‘You have great potential and can achieve anything you want!’ I used to tell him.

‘The only thing standing between you and everything you want is your will. You need to exercise your resolve so that you can work towards your goals.’

These words of wisdom could not save the miserable state of his life.

You see, my friend was a grown-up man and he had habits that were bred to the point of being unstoppable or irreversible.

At least that’s what he thought.

My friend would stay awake during the late hours of night and sleep during the day.

He would go and hang out with his friends during the early hours of night.

The cycle repeated itself for years.

image4.jpg
img src

After a couple of years, that was all he ever did.

Apart from certain obligations that were inescapable, my friend lived an ordinary lifestyle with little to no laudable progress or achievement.

I called this the Stalemate of Mundaneness; the state in which a person does not do anything of significance for their lives and get trapped in the dullness of their own routines.

This does not leave enough room for adventure or excitement.

The stalemate goes on and on until one day, you get the waking call and come to realize that you should change the way you are living, lest you waste the rest of your days and die an unfulfilled death.

image2.jpg
img src

A lot of people fail the waking call, because breaking out of our habits and routines is a difficult thing to do.

One incentive is to realize that if you do not act or move quickly, or with enough resolve, you will end up for worse than you were before you received this waking call.

Another effective method is to shut out every element of your life (be it a thing you do or a person you hang out with) that drives you closer to the mundaneness of your routines and discourages you from change.

image3.jpg
img src

Change may be difficult to bear, but it is the ultimate choice of wisdom when it comes to how proud we are of our own lifestyles.

Be brave enough to embrace change when you receive your waking call.

This blog post may very well be that waking call if it is inducing you to take a look at your life and the choices you make on a daily basis.

Free yourself of the Stalemate of Mundaneness and live the life that makes you proud!

A BIG HUG!!!

Great post!

The waking call comes for many around the age of 49 (7x7) the magical 7 , the circles of life.
7
14
21
28
35
42
49....and, and....
All these ages are breaking points in our life and there are changes, if one wants or not...
To realize that gives us great opportunities to work together with the natural life circles to create a better life.
Have a wonderful day
Tom

Excellent write up and very motivating one for me and this morning I needed something like this to read. So thank you @chbartist and it can also push me up a little bit as I am also going through a struggling phase from last one year and nothing is working out for me even after giving my 100%. But I think I must bide my time and one day I may come out of this phase.

Thank you and Have a great day.

Very good motivation and I agree with you that sometimes everyday life can lead us to a dead end! We all strive for something and therefore we just need to get rid of the things that prevent us and we must try to look for new methods of moving towards our goal!

Greetings @chbartist.

People get carried away by social stereotypes. An example is the attitude that some people take: living today and worrying tomorrow.

You have to evaluate the environment, if there are toxic people around us we must retire. People when they are not clear about their life goals hurt our projects.

If you want to give advice, first you have to know if the person wants to listen, otherwise you're wasting your time

Thank you for waking us up continually sir. Yes, most of us have been awakened by many calls of progress but sometimes it just comfortable to lay down in the bed of idleness.

I always enjoy reading your post when I come across them. The routines in our life can really make us dull. I am always looking for ways to shift my mindset and elevate but I admit sometimes I fall back into routine or just anxiety filling busyness. I have been doing some therapy/life coaching recently in a whatsapp group led by a friend ( Kind of an experiment), she gives us questions daily to dive deep and witness our inner workings , we also witness each other so we get more ideas on our inner workings. It is quite an interesting group. That will come to an end this week so I shall look out for your posts to keep my mindset right.
Thank you!

Change will come the least we expect it.
Sometimes forcing ourselves to change doesn't really work.
The more we're harsh to ourselves the more it won't happen.
Learn to be patient and change will happen at the right perfect time.

@chbartist you can divide and manage your time according to your needs but it does't mean it should be your routine life and whole life will be the same. Try out to break your life circle and let yourself to free for a little part routine life may be you will be succeded to find out some thing 🆕

I love your texts man! Thanks!

Check out my music articles, I know that as a musician, you're going to love them!

Cheers from Brazil <3

Ok what is getting creepy is your timing .. just kidding. We only take the abuse we are going to take . That was told to me as I finally left a toxic relationship ... I use it often to say to myself as a mantra because those evil habit loops of what we feel we are destined for are simply where we all get stuck.. thanks for the inspiration and I look forward for your insight tomorrow ... I appreciate your posts so much!! Good night my Steem friend 😃

Yeah, at times I feel only if I had a steely resolve I could achieve so much more.

Thanks for this eye opener.

Yes, it is really a struggle. It could be difficult at first but it's worth it, our body always want us in our comfort zone, but by practicing and really want changes, the body has no choice to follow the mind.. :)

Interesting and thoughtful post. I think some habits people don't tend to realize are talking about doing x or starting x project, only to repeatedly quit or get sidetracked by something else. I know I've personally done this numerous times, as I'm sure many others have and breaking through those types of bad habits takes very diligent tracking of your time and tasks. Thanks for your thorough post.

yes you are right, changing is not that easy to do but once you free yourself. You'll realise soon that you're making a change. The idea is great, I'm envious. lol forgive me in thinking like that

I often feel this. I am trap in my own self. Doing routines that doesn't make me grow and make me happy. It tires me and I felt unfulfilled and unacomplished. There are just things that bind me and I want to escape in that. I am going to make it. I'll try to get out of this stillness.

I think in busy life just few minutes par day spend self judge through change and improve successful life.

Posted using Partiko Android

We get used to of our routine and don't think to change it easily because we feel like it will disturb us but changing the routine gives a chance to explore different way of handling things.

Change is often the pivotal or inflection point where we can reverse our journey in the right direction to achieve our goals. We often forget that adjustments are necessary to adapt to the world which is always evolving. If we remain stagnant, we will never achieve our objectives even if we have in the last. We forget that what gets us to one place is not necessarily what will help is grow moving forward.
