How Minimalism Can Save Your Life by Reducing the Weight on Your Brain!!

in #mindset6 years ago (edited)

Hi, Steemians!

It is a common saying that everybody comes with baggage. The weight that you are carrying on your shoulders has a huge impact on your thoughts and decisions.

This weight is the sum of everything you experience every day. Your thoughts, feelings, obligations, decisions, actions, victories, failures, shortcomings, expectations, beliefs, and etc.

There is one other saying that I would like to bring to your attention

‘The mountains you are carrying, you were supposed to climb.’

The quote goes, indicating the weight that we bear on our minds, hearts, and souls.

image1.jpg
img src

If you are feeling weary, anxious, overloaded, and exhausted by the thoughts, decisions, actions, and deeds of the everyday ordinary life, then you need to slow down and think for a second.

Our brains were not fully adjusted by the natural evolution to be able to process the amount of information that we are dealing with today.

The sudden ripple of progress in technology and modernization has left us craving for simplicity in the darkest corners of our mind.

You want simplicity, but you dare not admit it to yourself and those who are around you. You fear missing out on a lot of stuff, but deep down in your heart, you couldn’t care less about having an ordinary life of pure focus and dedication.

image3.jpg
img src

Minimalism can save your life, even though the image of that word might implicate something undesirable in your mind.

If that is the case, then you can be sure that you are brainwashed by the constant and incessant feed of information that you are receiving by living in today’s society.

Unplugging, as cowardly as it might initially seem, is the greatest choice you could make for your life.

There are many things to attend to everyday. Obligations to fulfill. Decisions to take care of.

Progress to make.

Trust me, friends, as courageous and strong as you are, the weight is eventually going to wear you down and make you a lifeless shell of existential crisis walking the earth and going on about your business.

Sometimes, if you really want to make progress, you need to slow down and eliminate your options.

Minimalism is the idea of being content with something that you truly desire, and forsake everything else without wasting the needless time and energy trying to maintain their presence in your life.

Eliminate your extra and unnecessary options. If there is a weight on your shoulder that is needlessly slowing you down, make a note to yourself and eliminate that weight.

Remember the words, my friends:

We were supposed to climb the mountains of life, and not carry them on our shoulders.

A BIG HUG!

Nice thought. Usually, when people talk about minimalism, they talk about minimalism in the area of material possessions - which is something I already practice, because, beside reducing clutter it also saves money (all the things I don't need to buy!).

Recently, I've read (listened to) the book by Sarah Knight "The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a... ", well, you probably know what. It basically talks about decluttering in your mental space, specifically your perceived obligations to people around you and society in general, without being rude and/or unpleasant person to deal with.

This reminded me of a documentary I recently viewed on Netflix called "Heal." It pretty much touches on the same topic you have here - the importance and impact a heavy mind can have on your entire body and life.

Honestly who doesn't feel better after decluttering or "spring cleaning?"

Dear @chbartist
At present, the whole game has become of the brain. The more success the experiment uses. Undoubtedly the burden of expectations or the burden of work becomes more than necessary, then it becomes natural to bend. This is also true with the brain. Today the person is acting like a machine. To fulfill the expectations, the burden of stress on your brain is because it is a burden that does not apply to our brain or body on our shoulders.
Completes 3 years children are put in schools, where they are messed up with their brain. More burden is imposed on them than their mental capacity. Some children become bright minded, but some lose their mental balance.
This is happening exactly like the mountains which we should have mounted on the mountain, and they are moving on the head. thank you

Hi!
I must confess that I discovered minimalism just a year ago and my life had a great turn (for good) when I started to practice and live its way. After that I also had the chance to move out and it was easier and simpler to do it.

Thanks for sharing :)

I believe in minimalism. Not only to the clutter in this physical world but to the spiritual realm as well. Minimalism in isms and followings will help your mind settle and rest. Nothing is permanent and you don't have to have fear and urge to collect.

In the day we have so many things to do and what to think that when the end of the day we are completely exhausted, that exhausts our brains, it is true, we must concentrate on less things, things that are really necessary.

Great post @chbartist, This post is actually fit me in the present day. I was busy carrying the unnecessary load and was busy on unnecessary thing That why I was not unable to give time to steemit. and miss many valuable posts. You will know why and where i was busy by reading my latest post and don't forget to bless my daughter-in-law.
Regards
@kshahrck

This is a long term goal I have as I have auto-imposed a life full of things competing for my attention. It has not allowed me to spend time on the things I enjoy most but have cone to realize it on time and therefore am seeking to minimize it in the coming years. Simple is good!

You have spread the light of your knowledge on a very important topic, a person is effectively able to understand its prophecy with any decision making, with this, it is also necessary to determine that all the best one will remain the best.

Posted using Partiko Android

@chbartist, Very important message and for sure many of us are lifting the baggage and after period of time we will get to know that whatever baggage we were lifting it was unnecessary, so, definitely we have to slow down and have to assess our situations and have to eliminate unnecessary aspects from our life. Stay blessed.

Some times less is more!

We live overloaded with information, activities, all this can be counterproductive to our health, but at the same time we do not want to give up, on the contrary, sometimes we would like the day to have more hours to be able to perform a greater number of tasks...

we are crazy.

I guess its a nature of human being to have more and more and the pride makes it more worst. When we have something more than others we become proud, that's the starting point of pride. When our desires and passions become inordinate, they break down, leaving us helpless. Moderation is still the best to balance things properly.

I really try to live this way as with my mental health lately its been spiraling. I hope i can feel better and changes my ways. #motivation

That is something amazing. But I don't know weather you really read all your comments or not but I completely agree on the minimalism concept that is something over the top and needful stuff.

Dear @chbartist when I read this "If you are feeling weary, anxious, overloaded, and exhausted by the thoughts, decisions, actions, and deeds of the everyday ordinary life, then you need to slow down and think for a second.", I thought how you describe so perfect my current feelings.
As you say, simplicity must be the key of our live. I´ll try to put in practice the recommendation that you told us today in your post. A big hug for everybody.

Good idea sir simple but high quality life I am sure that's most valuable and useful information for everyone.
I appreciate your job good thinking and advise.,🤠

This is actually something i'm in the process of doing in our home. Getting rid of clutter and the junk we don't need.
Except, i'm taking it a step further and starting a toy exchange in my neighborhood. I want to help other people change their lives too! 😍🙌
I'd love to be added to your list, just gave ya a follow.

I think my personal thought if you are tired feel you take a deep breath if you want to continue think self and judges right about any decision discussion self mind .

Posted using Partiko Android

Take time to think and self-evaluate is healthy without a doubt we will realize that we carry unnecessary burdens that may not let us move forward and maybe in minimalism we find that simple ...

Thanks @chbartist

Hi, I'm Elron. And i'm a newbie in steemit.
I'd just like to say that this post touched me in some VERY special places and that you should probably look into recording yourself - or someone with vocal qualities akin to James Earl Jones or Morgan Freeman or even me tee hee - overlapped with soothing music, as i believe there are many people out there who enjoy listening to stuff rather than reading it. Other than music, you could even use nature sounds or even some other type of soothing ambiances. Hope you give my suggestion some thought, buddy.

Much love from Malaysia,
Cheers!

What a great idea. I read these posts each day and would definitely listen if I had the chance. I also love your quote.

I am also in Malaysia. Are you in TeamMalaysia? It's a really good supportive group here. Well worth joining in discord.

Yeaps, i am, though im fairly new to steemit and have not had the time to actually delve deeper into the inner workings of this social media website.

Discord is a chat app right? I'll just look into it, thanks!

Yes, discord is where lot of group and communities have places set up. I am in a lot to help with promotion and to get help if I need it with something.

I have this older post with a lot of minnow tips to help here. Don't vote on it, but if you have any questions, I will be glad to help. There are many details and it is not easy, but it's worth it.

Agreed on what you've said. We fear of putting down the burden on our shoulder to take other option. Because of these it affected our decision making.

Very interesting observations, reducing the complexity of your day to day living conditions could certainly lead to positive production in new unexplored avenues. I appreciate the thought, great post!

I threw away so many things in the last time... it feels liberating.

WOW btw - I never saw someone with a reputation over 80 - You are the first!

It’s a purchased reputation. Steemit’s reputation scoring system is flawed since the creation of voting bots.

Sadly, now that large votes can be purchased, so can reputation scores.

Once upon a time, a persons reputation score reflected the time and effort that they had put into getting noticed on the blockchain. Now it more than likely indicates how much they have spent on voting bots.

Minimalism is the idea of being content with something that you truly desire, and forsake everything else without wasting the needless time and energy trying to maintain their presence in your life.

Minimalism for me is something I'm working on achieving because I did realize at the young of like 15 or 16, damn I really don't need much to be truly content. And this made me remember what a true minimalist needs in life: true happiness by the Occam's Razor necessary. Please include me on your list.

As always your post give motivation for me, i always admiring how great your writing skill and how you choosing topic.

Please put me on your list sir

@chbartist we should clear our baggages to fly high to catch our dreams.

ALready minimised my belongings and simplified my life, now about to do it all over again as i reduce what I own to what i need to survive and nothing more... my way of life means that I can't carry non-essentials, and the truth is, I no longer need nor desire them.

Simple living is so much easier.

The first time I deactivated my Facebook account a few years ago, it was a revelation. I didn’t even use it that much, but it was that act of actually deactivating and “unplugging” from it. It was beautiful. I felt free and more lightweight.

Another time was when I lost my iPhone years ago. I ended up getting an old Windows Phone which had far fewer apps and stuff. I loved it. It was like an intermediary between a full-blown smartphone and a feature phone. As a result, I used it much less.

Few things are more freeing than tossing or giving/gifting something whose purpose has come and gone.

Peace.

Excellent post. Minimalism is a breath of fresh air.

Greetings to all, it seemed excellent this wording, I want to share with you the experience I am living in these moments, without wanting and without knowing I am living a minimalist experience, it turns out that I had to move with my mother because my stepfather passed away and took the decision without thinking about it, what better company than the one of your only son, since I have reason to use I am surrounded by people who are in conflict and who do not come out of a single struggle, I am one of those people with a lot of temperance and I like to advise to people and more to whom I love, this time I stay away from people who create a toxic environment and I have been separated at my mother's house where what is breathed and lived is total peace and tranquility,

when you enter that minimalism it's something that you learn to find yourself and to know yourself more, I've dedicated myself to learning things and to read about things that had never interested me, I've practiced reading something to which I've always fled, I accompany my peace with good music, my favorite genre is R & B and it's really something excellent, but what if you have to have is a bit of maturity for this, because it can be addictive and the idea is not to get away from it. secular because we live in it, I can say is that if you have this opportunity, do not waste it, do it without fear but with much maturity and control.

The Lord Blesses You All
