Hi, Steemians!
A successful person always monitors their habits. Their tendencies, habits, small and rather insignificant routines, always make up their lives in ways that you could not possibly imagine.
Someone who doesn’t understand the significance of monitoring their own habits and tendencies will always be leashed under directions by other people and influential voices in the world surrounding them.
Even the smallest of deeds and habits can have an amazing or a devastating impact on your life. In today’s article, I am going to help you understand this idea.
Let us review the lives of three friends who have grown up together; Alex, Jason, and Richard. These three friends all work in an accounting firm downtown. Their lives are pretty intermingled.
They are all married. Have houses in the same neighborhood, and are paid a mutual sum every month. Let us examine how small change can drift their lives apart in their mid-30s.
Alex is always content with his position at the firm. He has a lovely wife and a kid, and doesn’t care much for the comings and goings of the world.
Jason is beginning to grow a little bit ambitious about his life. But not so much as to start planning for anything, mind you. He just knows that there is always room for improvement.
Meanwhile, Richard is not caring much for the life he is living. Not that he doesn’t enjoy it, but he feels that he doesn’t have to work hard for it.
Jason starts doing some things quite unconsciously. He starts reading books in the subway on the way to work. On the way back home, he listens to podcasts and tries to learn another language.
Alex is living his life as usual. No change whatsoever. He is still doing a good job at work and is loved by his wife and his child.
Richard develops a new and weird habit. He bakes muffins every day, and word spreads that he is actually quite good at it. People around him start applauding him for his baking skills.
The three are living their lives. In spite of their small and insignificant differences, their lives are pretty much the same.
After three months, the results are the same. After six months, they are still living a life that resembles no change whatsoever. After a year, people begin to notice some differences.
Jason has gotten a bit fluent in another language. His knowledge and wisdom of the world and his workspace has allowed him to work more efficiently.
As a result, he receives a promotion and soars high in their company. Now he has more money and more opportunities. He travels more, and his life is undergoing many changes.
Alex is still much the same. Over the course of the year that we examined, he had developed no new habits. He lived with his routine and didn’t dare make a change to anything that he had.
Meanwhile, things weren’t looking so good for Richard. He started getting overweight. At the first few months, you couldn’t notice any change. But after a while, he began to gain weight.
The extra weight had a toll on his body. He couldn’t work as well. He didn’t enjoy anything other than eating. He began to slip out of his obligations as a husband and a father. He lost all control over his life.
Who would have thought such a small change and habit could have such wonderful or devastating results?
The same could be said about our own lives. We underestimate the value of small change and building suitable habits.
You don’t see it in yourself to start learning a new language and studying it for hours every day. But you can start learning that language by dedicating only 15 minutes of your day to it.
After a month, you have dedicated 7 hours and 30 minutes to studying.
That doesn’t do you any good. After four months, you have dedicated 60 hours to it. Still not much. But after a year you have dedicated 180 hours to study another language. You can be sure that you are a bit fluent in it.
Do not underestimate the power of small habits and changes in your routine. The result will amaze you!
A BIG HUG!
Even a bigger problem, I think, is that people are scared of changes in general, whether it's small or big; instead of embracing them and realize that it's natural.
Interesting point. I think that all of us have seen changes like these ones around us.
Sometimes we are the ones who change for the better; sometimes we do not change at all; and sometimes we are the ones who change for the worst.
The good thing about this dynamic is that the very small changes of habits that can ruin us can also save us.
One grain at a time the hen fills up its crop.
From drop to drop you can overflow a glass, granite to granite becomes a mountain, we must not underestimate our small actions. Very good story to exemplify.
Happy day!!!
Wow. I hadn't thought much about it, but you are right, little changes can make a difference. Unfortunately, we don't always know what outcome the little changes will make.
Thanks for giving us something to think about.
Small changes tend to compound over time to make transformations in one’s life. Compounding is said to be the most powerful force in nature as it build momentum to drive change. This is great advice as out best investment is often in ourselves through knowledge which is often free!

Learning new language (I know, it was just example) is running long distance, maybe neverending, track. In many activities the results come earlier. For example when you start your day with 10minutes exercice, the result can be visible within weeks.
Dear @chbartist I looked at statistics and have seen that your next post will be 350th on Steemit so let me congratulate you in advance. There is one more imposant thing. The number 350 is not very big in comparison with another most influencing Steemians. But the reason that you have always important message for us made you Steemit celebrity. Thank you for everything you are doing for us, your motivating thoughts and wish you all the best.
@chbartist your post is a clear example of what continuous improvement represents, applied in this case in the context of personal life. I think the most difficult thing for us is to be clear about where we want to go, from there we can configure an action plan that allows us to achieve that vision we have projected. Every transformation requires an action. You do not get to be a beautiful butterfly without first having been a caterpillar. Happy day for everyone!!
What a great story or can say an example you shared. Agreed that small change in our daily habits make a bigger impact and even helps us to grow in life. This change could be anything and not just limited to learn only language. Thanks @chbartist for amazing post

yes it's right, it's small or big it doesn't matter as long as you work hard for it. It's not about how small it is but it's all about how you will do it. The meaning of the content is nice, very inspiring. Thank you

Yeah.
Little change daily will have a great impact in life.
An example of this is 15 minutes walk a day.
Try it today then the next day then the 3rd day up to a week then a month then a year then a decade.
See the results.

The example of the three neighbors made me think about the importance of constancy in our lives, since that is the cornerstone of any achievement. Now, in order to be constant, it is advisable to establish small short-term goals, but it is also very important, and above all necessary, to try as much as possible not to postpone, or in other words:
How right you are! You're very realistic in life, your writing is very helpful for us to be an extraordinary one. Thanks for presenting so beautiful article.
I do agree... With Small step done can create a huge difference to a person's life either to positive or negative...
We need to think thoroughly every decision we make and every action we do...
I think this is very nice idea only small changes have lots of power bulld a successful great life first things think positive with well confidence I can do this is a key of successful life.

Excelente nunca decepcionas!!
The changes we may underestimate may be the one to change our life around positively or negatively
Not quite related to this post, but while reading this, it reminded me following saying:
“The most beloved of actions to Allah are those which are done persistently, even if they are little.” Prophet Muhammed
It all lies in the detail of little things being done persistently.

Hi @chbartist!
A continuous habit change is necessary to achieve our goals which demands constant ingenuity because of regular changes in our environment!
But why is changing formed habits quite difficult , unpleasant and often never accomplished??

In fact a lot of people aren't comfortable with change. We really prefer everything to stay the same if they are already content enough.

Every change look from a "normal" prospective is a red alert, just because school, newspapers, television, every kind of massive information, give us an input: You are here and now and you have to stay here and now, dont't try to chang or something bad can happen! Wake up, eat, go to school/work, re-eat ang go bed, and repeat for 70 years! It's Only when someone open our eyes this could change, you can add a simple world to your routine… LIVE… and all change… no matter how it's hard to do, you have to LIVE your life, make your choices, your mistakes and take your revenges from world...every situation looked by a normal prospective hides a problem, the same situation looked by an evolved man can hide new opportunities, it depends only of you, you under old systems!
All of the changes in my life have started slowly. I take small steps to see what happens and adjust as needed. I try really hard to stay away from media that is fed to us, and look for the alternative way. If "everyone" says something, that is often the wrong path.
The biggest change what you can make is be grateful and love your life. Because there many ways how you can live your life. But happy ways starts with grateful and love. The shitty one starts with fear and hate.
What is your way of living?
