What do you really need? I mean really, really need?
I'm sitting here with my cup of tea, enjoying the view. There's nothing else I need, really.
The problem with today's epidemic of anxiety is the lack of clarity on what it is that you really need and really want. You need to consider both. In order for you to realize what you need, you first need to figure out what you want. And that's a tough one for so many people.
A job, status, wealth, family, a relationship, a pet, a house, the right food, health...
A sense of contribution too: save the oceans, save the rain forest, cure diseases, feed the poor, cloth the poor, erase inequality....
However, before you consider contribution, you need to know what's right for you. You got to start with yourself first. Only if you know how to nurture yourself, you'll have the capacity to contribute in the best and biggest way possible.
What is it that you really, really, really need?
It doesn't suffice to analyze the various aspects of your life and your environment on a purely rational level. You won't come to a conclusion. Well, the conclusion most certainly will be: "I don't know..."
In order to figure out what you truly want you need to be able to observe. Observe without judgment. Observe your emotions. They will tell you what you want and what you don't want.
What is it that makes you feel alive? You got to feel into your body. It's a big issue since the vast majority of us are trained to remain in our heads. Your body, which is your subconsciousness, will tell you what you really want and what you really need. Just observe. Don't judge. Feel into it. That's what you need.
