Understanding The Mind

The way the mind works is that our experience of being ourselves in this world is dependent on a psychological factor of wanting and attaching, craving and clinging.
when the mind acts out of personal cravings for things in the world, your cravings, it becomes attached to the results of that action and acts more out of that. underlying this craving is the sense of being you, of it being your craving, and being separated from the object of the craving feeling like a threat to you because thats how craving-clinging works. so acting out of cravings basically constructs the ego over time.
this gets consciousness entangled in personal issues, and makes it likely to stay trapped down there in personal issues, because it continues acting out of clinging to the notion of self, which forces it to experience the results, the law of karma.
this is really stressful because a lot of the time things dont pan out the way our self concept wants and so we experience suffering
by not clinging to the notion of self the mind can get out of this ball of stress entirely
selfish action stops and the results of selfish action are no longer experienced as the results of selfish action
the mind essentially enters a higher state of consciousness more expansive than the contracted state of the craving clinging ego
your personal problems cease being your personal problems and just become problems. conditions of reality that are disagreeable relative to some metric, completely impersonal phenomena
and that makes them much easier to solve
