Twitter played an important role during the Arab spring but this recent pivot is concerning. While some content maybe provocative it gets hard when you start drawing lines. It is a hard balance to pull off.

Yes, it is; it's also maddening at times.
Steem has a real advantage here, in that its blockchain makes the system censorship-resistant. There are lots of American conservatives complaining about a double standard on both Twitter and Facebook. These types don't easily make the leap to a new platform, but they'd certainly benefit from Steem.
Steem had potential for sure. I am still getting used to the platform, but it could do well if it does not get overrun by "trolls". That is where most platforms run into a problem.
