Is Twitter on the wrong side of history?

Is Twitter a free speech platform, or is there a systemic bias in the platform. What do you think?

Twitter's dug the same hole that Reddit has. Jack Dorsey is trying to do what Ellen Pao tried with Reddit: to pivot towards a "safe space" for important users like celebrities. It didn't work for Reddit, and I'll be surprised if it works for Twitter.

FWIW, TWTR's one-year chart is on this page:

So far, the market's smiling on the recent pivot...but I'd steer clear.

Twitter played an important role during the Arab spring but this recent pivot is concerning. While some content maybe provocative it gets hard when you start drawing lines. It is a hard balance to pull off.

Yes, it is; it's also maddening at times.

Steem has a real advantage here, in that its blockchain makes the system censorship-resistant. There are lots of American conservatives complaining about a double standard on both Twitter and Facebook. These types don't easily make the leap to a new platform, but they'd certainly benefit from Steem.

Steem had potential for sure. I am still getting used to the platform, but it could do well if it does not get overrun by "trolls". That is where most platforms run into a problem.
