There is no question that Millennials are a completely different generation from baby boomers and also a very different generation from GenX. The most remarkable difference is that the main goal for past generations was to work guard and gain wealth, while the mindset of the Millennials is to experience as much as they can during their lifetime.
Obviously this creates a clash of opinions when older generations say that this self-serving way of thinking is not going to be helpful for the collective growth of the species, while Millennials are saying that they deserve the right to enjoy life and avoid spending it inside a cubicle working all day long just to get a retirement pension.
The problem with the spend now and save later idea is that to most people it makes no sense to think they can experience great things in life if they are broke, but the philosophy of the Millennial is to use the money they earn to enjoy life instead of saving that money for a rainy day.
The whole philosophy behind Millennials is that you need to stop chasing the paycheck and current Millennial gurus are enforcing that way of thinking and encouraging young people to live life to the fullest. It’s not about not working, but about not working in jobs that feel like work. Instead, people should pursue things that make them feel passionate.
Another thing that is allowing Millennials to enjoy more fun experiences in their 20’s and early 30’s is that they are getting married much later than the average person did in past generations. Marriage is no longer something to consider until you are at least in your 30’s if you are a Millennial.
Perhaps Millennials are going to be in deep financial trouble 20 years down the line and only time will tell.
That's a great way to live!!!... until there is an economic downturn ?? Mom ? Dad ? Can I have my old room back?
