Old Stock Military Surplus
Dates from the 1950s & 1960s
Cold War Era
These were used by the Vopo in East Germany
From what I understand they were police officers
that were basically military grade soldiers
This is a Heavy, Sturdy Steel Helmet
with Leather fittings on the inside
The leather inside does look to be
a new replacement, but the helmet
is original period and has the wear and tear
to show for it
Great patina! What a story it could tell!
These are getting harder & harder to find.
Measures about 12 1/4" long by 10 1/2" wide and 5 1/2" tall
Weighs over 3 lbs and is very heavy & uncomfortable on your
head even for a short period of time...I guess the plus
side is that it was sturdy enough to keep the officers safe!
