Celebrated for its numerous common attractions and old wooden houses, the Stavanger area is on the radar of about each guest to Norway. There's a reason this waterfront town has been twinned with Houston and Aberdeen: it's occasionally known as Norway's 'Oil City' for its significance in oil investigation in the North Sea since the 1970s.
Is on Mosvatnet Lake, just 2 km from the downtown area. The gallery has a perpetual display of Norwegian craftsmanship, and a turning show that is some of the time very dynamite.
Make sure to see the Lars Hertervig artworks; you'll see the scene of the islands only north of Stavanger reflected in his work. It's everything beautiful, and in summer the waterfront wakes up in the best port-town style.
