The Mexican Space Agency issues a call for undergraduate or postgraduate students who want to do research stays at the Ames Research Center of the US agency.
CITY OF MEXICO (Notimex)
The Mexican Space Agency (AEM) has launched a call for Mexican undergraduate and graduate students to have the opportunity to conduct immersive research stays at NASA's Ames Research Center, during the fall of 2018.
Through a statement, the general director of the AEM, Javier Mendieta Jiménez, said that in Mexico there is great talent, at the same level or superior to that of young people from other space leaders.
He indicated that the call is for the purpose of promoting the linking of young people from public or private institutions with a minimum average of 8.5, with researchers and students from different countries, to create international collaborative networks in science and space technology.
"When the AEM went into operation in 2013, many people did not believe that Mexican students had talent for space, but throughout the administration they have been seen winning multiple international engineering, science, math or technology skills such as robotics" .
The above is an important factor for more and more young people to approach opportunities, such as these research stays at NASA, he said.
For this, it is necessary to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, and have the application and academic scholarship support of the public or private educational institution to which the applicants belong, as well as with certification in the English language.
The official recalled that Mexico is already the third world destination in attracting aerospace direct foreign investment projects, after the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as the seventh supplier in the US market.
What makes it necessary to continue redoubling efforts to bring more training opportunities like this and others to the new generations, and thus these can consolidate Mexico as a global aerospace power, he said.
The call for these research stays at NASA, whose deadline for registration will be next March 30 at 6:00 p.m., can be found on its website .
Mexico has a space agency?
Who knew?
yes... actually started in 2010 :)
If they play their cards right they have GREAT advantages.
I suspect that #2 will be eliminated forthwith...
