Alien Worlds is a play to earn game in the WAX blockchain. You login with your WAX wallet, find a planet, select a land, and mine TLM (Trilium) tokens. This just describes the basics of the game. There is a lot more, as beyond the initial game, a number of communities are creating around Alien Worlds, and are, in one way or another, creating what is known as the Alien Worlds Metaverse, in the form of related projects and game, which will be listed further along this article.
Metaverse
Before going any further, the first step should be to answer the question: What is the Metaverse?
In Wikipedia, the Metaverse is defined in the following way:
In science fiction, the "metaverse" is a hypothetical iteration of the Internet as a single, universal, and immersive virtual world that is facilitated by the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets. In colloquial usage, a "metaverse" is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social and economic connection. (Wikipedia, [1])
In other words, you could say that the metaverse is an enormous virtual world, where different social platforms and games all exist in a shared universe. This would be possible thanks to the existence of the Internet, servers, and blockchain technology. 3D worlds are common, and virtual reality will probably become a dominant force in the future.

Alien Worlds Metaverse
Alien Worlds is a play to earn game in the WAX blockchain, and its basic functionality is covered here. In reality, the game is a lot deeper, as it features six planets (at the time of this writing): Eyeke, Kavian, Magor, Naron, Neri, and Veles. Each of these planets are governed by their own smart contract in the WAX blockchain. This means that each planet has its own governance, internal votes, and resources. This also means that third parties can interact with said smart contracts too, and obtain a variety of data about each planet and its members. Mission Control is probably an important stop for you in the Alien Worlds metaverse, as it brings several tools together, along with some quests, to help you earn more points and TLM.

One of the most interesting tools offered by Mission Control is the Miners Union. To be part of the Miners Union (as of this writing), you have to apply for it in its specific webpage. Once you are can sign in, you can Claim rewards, to obtain voting points, and spaceships. With your voting points, you can cast your votes for your favorite Alien Worlds governance candidates. With the spaceships, you can participate in Missions. When missions are done, you will be able to claim some extra TLM.
