Metal song of the day : We got used to us - Riverside

First thing, this is not metal. But Riverside is one of the flagships when it comes to the soft shoulder of melodic prog-metal. Originated from Poland, they write lenghty songs, layered, with clean vocals and always some catchy guitar playing.

In 2016 they lost a member due to cardiac arrest. I must say, my heart skipped some beats as well, when I heard the news.

There's numerous songs that I could share here, but a good entry-point for some of you might be We got used to us. The song perfectly depicts the way we look at relationships nowadays and I get shivers down my spine and goose bumps when I fully grasp the perfect observation the band makes here. Everything has become so superficial, even our most important love relationship. We hardly communicate and somehow get used to it. So true. Behind our screen we are not the person we really are.

This song saddens me a lot, but regardless I want to listen to it over and over again, because it pinpoints one of the problems of modern society and sounds just like that. Give it your full attention. Anyone in a serious relationship might recognise the situation.
