Heartbroken & Grateful

in #mentalhealth4 years ago

Dear Daniel,

To be clear, the above picture is what I am grateful for. This is the Dinner w/Del at the AOF 2018. My career is blossoming and taking off in a way I was only dreaming about in 2014 when first started making films. Me and Missy had been co-writing screenplays since we were in our early twenties. It was not until ages 39 and 40 that we hit the board at Indie Gathering.

AOF Megafest changed my life. I met two people who would ensure my film would be the most beautiful one I ever directed and produced.

Letters to Daniel, from blog, to book, to proof of concept documentary, to narrative feature film and now the play forever changed my career and gave me a purpose as a mental health advocate.

My career is taking off right now and it is exhilarating. But there are times when people you trust and love, show their colors and break your heart. My heart was was shattered this morning. Things will never be the same. And I've been mourning that all day. After crying big ugly tears I ate a ton of spaghetti, garlic bread and ice cream.

I know this heavy feeling will vanish after I fall asleep for the night. My mind, heart, and soul will reset and release this terrible experience. I still managed to get some writing done. In fact I'm going to attempt to finish the scene I started today or maybe I'll just crash.

Oh two brilliant AOF related developments, if the Galaxy Theaters agree to present a handful of independent films (that would mean limited theatrical distribution in Las Vegas, NV) the Las Vegas Film Critics Society has agreed to review the film and interview me the TV, radio and print.

And an AOFer in NY can put us in touch with publicists for theater critics and can get them to this. All I have to do is contact her when I'm ready.

So, although I am grieving, I am so grateful for my career that I've worked so hard to build. I have no regrets.

But boy would it be nice to see you Daniel and share my art with you.

Sincerely,

Amy McCorkle
