Your investment in Steem is more about you then it’s about Steem.

I just read a post by @modernpastor called “The Steem Story is Already Written” you can read it here: https://steemit.com/steem/@modernpastor/the-steem-story-was-already-written

And I wanted to share the message I got from the Story. The story reminds us that when we get involved in an investment of time and money, we are taking a risk. And it’s normal for us to get nervous and anxious about whether we are making the right decisions. Also it’s normal to wonder if we should we stick to the investment we have chosen or pull out.

The story reminds us that many successful people had these same thoughts and fears when they first got involved with investments which turned out to be succcessful. I can offer examples like Apple and Amazon. There was a time when both looked like they might fail and people who invested time and money in them were anxious, they were afraid and they doubted the wisdom of their investment in these projects.

Now the point of Modern Pastors story is that we can look back now and say; “Investing in Apple or Amazon was an easy decision.”

We can look back now and say; “Yeah when Apple was at a 2 year low I would have invested more money and bought it while it was cheap”.

But the truth is at the time those companies were selling at historical lows, the investors doubted themselves. They worried, they had sleepless nights and there were days they thought they should quit those investments.

We need to realize that no investment is risk free and that even those who invested in very successful projects like Apple, Amazon, Bitcoin or Dash went through periods of doubt, anxiety and worry. But if you have investigated or researched an investment or project and you feel it’s a great project with a great future, it’s no longer about the project, it’s about you.

It’s now a test of the strength of your faith in yourself and your abilities to assess investments. Now it’s about you and how strong you are mentally. To me this article was a “wow moment”

If I have looked at the numbers and the numbers say stay invested and add to it when you can, now it’s about me. Do I have the mental strength to do it.

It’s easy to say but low and sell high, to make a profit. But that statement doesn’t say anything about all the emotions involved in investing when the investment price is actually low.

Warren Buffett, the stock billionaire is often quoted as saying that when it comes to good companies be fearless when the majority of investors are fearful and be fearful when the majority of investors are fearless. The majority buy when the investment is soaring and prices are near all time highs, but the profits are made by those who buy when those same investments were at their lows.

The people who bought Bitcoin for less the one dollar, less then ten dollars or less then one hundred dollars are probably happy. Those who bought it near the highs when investors were fearless are probably not happy.

I am not saying Steem is the next Bitcoin.
I am saying it’s not always about the investment, sometimes it’s about you.

Hola,

Our belief has always been steem. As you have done the example Apple and Amazon, I feel that it will repeat this kind of history someday

I feel like I am dollar cost averaging. I blog and comment daily without reference to the price and I take money out - usually weekly regardless of price. I power down continually, but try to keep the sp growing even if slightly. This way I am "investing" in steem, while still being able to use the money generated here.

This all worked much better with a higher price level, but that does not really enter into the equation.

I'm posting on 2 blogs with 2-5 posts a day total and making 30-50 comments. If the price goes up, I will still work at the same level and the same if it goes down.

Your very busy, but sounds productive. It’s a good example of Mali g money off Steem and getting paid for social media. Co granulation son your successful business model.

Thank you very much @shortsegments. I work very hard here and the payoff is just about enough. I pray for that price rise we all need. But for those of you investing cash, the slow drip method is probably a good one too. It's better to add money weekly or monthly instead of in one big lump as far as I can see.

I think that dollar cost averaging with intermittent purchases at fixed intervals is a good plan. I think you will be successful with this plan.

True, but for every Apple and Amazon there are MANY companies that failed!

True. I think you have to research the companies and find the good ones. Then invest when your research says invest, hold or wait.

I believe that in every business you should invest time and wait to make the best decisions.
Now. If I see it as a casino game, where everything depends on luck; The results will be different, and the reaction to what happens will also be different.
As an investor, a lot of patience and positivism is required; As a player, no.
(I USE A TRANSLATOR)

I think that steemit is a revolution within a revolution (that of the blockchain). Many investors, when they invest, do not lose sight of the money, but in reality, what we must not lose sight of is the possibility that this project has to significantly influence the lives of people, in the medium or long term. That is the quality of the visionary: where the investor sees a future gain without more, the visionary sees a significant transformation of his society. Money, in the latter case, is only a means or an excuse to address this transformation. We must return to the greatness of dreams, to innovative ideas and to the faith that change is possible.
