HIVE's Meme Dream: The BECKoning of Meme Tokens

Hello SPIers, today we look into the idea of creating a meme token on HIVE. Yes, yes, im still talking about meme tokens but to me they are fascinating. Stupid pictures with even more stupid names and billion-dollar marketcaps!

Why? YOLO, thats why #wifhat 😝

Every blockchain that can be built on has a plethora of meme tokens so why not HIVE? Well,... mainly because there are not enough users, community spirit is low and it's kinda just Groundhog Day to check blog content with a large number repeating the same information about HIVE are some rewritten crypto news I've already read on my news app. On top of that, everything has to yield something, people expect something for nothing and most think short term. Not enough users is the main problem, if we have 5k active users, we're lucky. How many from that 5k would buy a meme token just the crap of it? Not very many 🥲

With that said, if you can get a whale that likes your project, all the minions will follow. Sadly, most minions are broke but numbers is numbers. So, you can guess this will never happen and SPI will never release a meme token for the community because it's too much work, planning and cost to release it and watch it die. I dont like rejection 😱

But, just for the hell of it..

It's still fun to look into how we would do such a thing hypothetically. It's fun for me to think of things like this because it's something different to the tokens we normally release, a complete 180 from SPI or EDS. Most would think it's as easy as making a HIVE new account, paying 100 BEE to create the token and then start promoting it but this is a plan for failure. There are many levels to creating a meme token, the value of a meme token is its community of holders and planning with that in mind can increase your chance of success a bunch.

I've not put much thought into this, im kind of just winging it here to be honest but for HIVE to have a successful meme token, before token launch we'd need the whole community to know about it, have incentives to raise funds for set up costs, have discord & X accounts set up and active and really just over shill it to high heaven all over the place to every tribe or game on HIVE.

Meet "BECK"

Beck is short for Beckett. The name comes from old English and is derived from boe meaning "bee" and cot meaning "shelter". Beckett is often interpreted as "Beehive*

The best time to release a meme token is when the market is hot and there's money falling from the sky, 2025 I think most will agree will be a good year for crypto. The very first thing to do is release a post detailing the plan with a title like...

Free Airdrop to all HIVE token holders!!

Promoting a free airdrop to everyone on the chain is a good start. We can make it a claim drop and to claim anyone would need to send 0.001 HIVE to the airdrop account to trigger the transfer and then the bot would blacklist that account, 1 account = 1 airdrop.

The next thing would be starting to gather funds because any meme that has a chance to succeed will need to be on Beeswap's AMA and have a strong LP token paired off with HIVE.

While shilling the airdrop hard and getting lots of eyes our posts, we would need to promote an incentive to collect HIVE funding through a LP donation drive. We promise 5% of BECK's supply to the top 250 HIVE donors on launch day. Weighted from 1st to 250th. We'd start to accept donations now and keep accepting them right up until launch day. We'd be creating FOMO and promoting YOLO.

We would promote this hard because the more HIVE people donate the stronger the starting LP token value can be. Matching off 80% of BECK with 1000 HIVE ain't going to do crap, it would need to be at least 15-20k+ HIVE to give it a chance. This is why we offer 5% of the token supply to the top 250 donors, it's half what we are dropping to HIVE token holders but from 4-5k active users, 250 is around 5ish% and this "LP donator airdrop" would be attainable for almost anyone given they would have 8 months to make donations. We ideally want a few BECK going to those who financially supported the project and made it strong.

Gamifying the LP donation drive and weighting it from 1st to 250th means each time you donate, you might climb the leader to receive a bigger airdrop prize. We'd really need to raise alot of HIVE because at the end of the day, the bigger the LP token value is, the more BECK will be worth on the release date, 01/01/2025.

We would shill it really hard for 8 months on HIVE, and build active communities on X and Discord. Try to make a few partnerships with some HIVE projects, maybe we could allocate 2% of the supply to Splinterland users as an example. The main objective for those 8 months would be to build a fanboy army and acceptance from a few HIVE whales.

On 01/01/2025

We create a diesel pool on Beeswap for BECK/HIVE, take all the HIVE from the donation drive and match it off with 80% of the total BECK supply. Next, we make the 10% HIVE claim drop bot live and announce that to the community so people can start to claim their BECK. After that, the top 250 donors' post is released and 5% of BECK to airdropped to those named. We mint 2% of the supply to partners to distribute and the remaining 3% can be held to use at a future date for another HIVE donation drive. The 2nd donation drive would be to topup/strengthen the LP token.

And that would be that. The rest would be up to the HIVE community really. We could keep posts coming out shilling it and keep things like X and Discord active but ultimately the raw facts are, that there would need to be more buyers than sellers for the price to increase. Being aware that alot of people will dump and wreck the LP token value in the beginning is just part of the game.

This is why you would allocate 80% of the supply to the LP token. If half the HIVE airdrop (5%) is sold back into the AMA on Beeswap from people dumping, the increase of BECK within the LP token is only 6% from 80% to 85%. Putting a high percentage of the supply into the LP token would give BECK the best chance to retain the price into airdrop dumpers. With 80% of the supply within the LP token, new BECK is only released when people buy the token with HIVE from Beeswap and this would increase the price of the token.

Anyways, im starting to waffle on. After release on 01/01/2025, it would be up to the community to do with as they please. My only promise after release would be I delete the account details to the account that controls the BECK/HIVE LP token. You'd have to take me at my word but this would make BECK rugproof. If there is the option to transfer an LP token to @null, that would be a better option but I dont think it's beable.

It's a stupid idea and HIVE is not big enough to build a meme worth anything decent but it's fun to explore. If you can build a loyal community around the meme token by being active on social media, providing liquidity and ideally burn the main LP token, you can build an awesome eco-system from a community of liked minded people.
