RE: From 9gag to steemit

in #meme7 years ago

Welcome to Steemit!! :-) I am sure you are going to have and I am sure you'll have fun. I see you have found dmania already, also check out busy.org, I think the format will suit you better, as you can more easily view memes and play videos without opening the post.

Feel free to be a grammar nazi with me, i am a spanish native speaker and i dont like to make mistakes when writing

OK, you asked for it, lol! Your English reads very well actually, and I wouldn't have guessed if you hadn't said, however you are making a couple of small mistakes (that English speakers make all the time!)

First, when you use 'i', it should always be a capital, regardless of where it is in the sentence.

e.g.
What should I do?

Next, always use a capital for countries, languages and nationalities.

e.g.
Spanish not spanish

This also count's for proper nouns like Nazi.

Lastly, you forgot the apostrophe for don't, as it is short for do not. and is the same for won't, short for will not.

OK, I hope you were being serious and that wasn't a subtle joke that I missed! :-D

Steem on!

hi, i don't know dmania nor busy.org, thanks for the recommend. do they work with steem or are a different thing?

thanks for the correction, I was not sure about the capital letters, in Spanish (i think xd) we don't use capital for "spanish"(español)
i knew about the apostrophes but it's difficult to text them in the phone (now i'm in the PC) Don´t you write without the apostrophes when informal writing? For example, in Spanish we have a lot of words with "acento" (mamá-papÁ) but never use them when texting, we just write "mama-papa" without acento and if people cant understand without them, well fuck them

Yes busy and dMania are a Steemit thing, just sign in with your posting keys, which can be found in your wallet tab.

I do use apostrophes when texting, because my phone auto corrects them :-)

Cg

Yes I am using busy right now because of the notifications.

But you are used to people writing without apostrophes, right?

Yes, I am used to people writing without apostrophes, it doesn't look too weird, especially when you use text :-)

Also certain words get used more so it is less strange, for example 'wont' looks more correct than 'doesnt' In fact it seems spellcheck doesn't correct wont, but it is the same with dont as well, even though it is incorrect it looks more correct than say; couldnt.

It's funny; but do you know what I mean?

Cg

Yeah, I thought 'wont' did not have apostrophe
