What does it take to mold your life in a way that you find more meaningful and suffices in everything you do each day? Have you ever asked yourself what keeps you going each day? Once in your life, have you ever felt that you were the most unlucky and misfortune person ever lived? The truth, no one is. If we only see things and life in other people perspective we may regret adding bad things in our lives.

I am one of the most proud what the community and I have achieved in my 9 months in the platform. I am very excited and proud to share the fruit of our labor. After a couple of restless days organizing and preparing for the event, it all paid off after its success. Christmas is just around the corner and it has truly been a blessed life changing opportunity to have taken part to such wonderful event which is the Gift Giving Day 2017.

Who Am I?

HELLO STEEMIANS! I am Michael Jan from Cebu City, Philippines. I've joined steemit last March of this year. I am very thankful to my dearest best friend, travel buddy, eating buddy and partner in crime @fernwehninja who took the biggest part of my steemit journey. I am currently working in BPO industry for 2 years now and teaching English to Japanese students doing part time. Since my job is pretty stressful, I looked for a way to expand my horizons apart from working in a daily basis. I decided to create a community called #STEEMITBLOGGERS in Cebu wherein we are organizing meet up events and activities for steemians who are from Cebu. Here is the link STEEMIT BLOGGERS which currently have 1,108 MEMBERS WORLDWIDE Then gladly, I was able to gather steemians one event at a time. I do believe that you grow in your craft if you take part and let like-minded people either teach you or learn from you through sharing of ideas in a discussion.

What is Gift Giving Day 2017?

It's an event organized by steemph.cebu team to give early Christmas presents to our less fortunate families in Mandaue City, Cebu. We are forever thankful for we received tremendous support from the steem community. In coordination with the Department of Social Welfare Services in Mandaue, we were able to well-organize and gather the families who will be receiving the consumable goods which can be used in their daily needs. DSWS also provided the event area of the said event.

THE PREPARATIONS

We coordinated with DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE'S OFFICE - MANDAUE to set the event's date and asked help to choose the lucky families to receive early presents from steemit.

Accompanied by the street educators of DSWS, we visited the place where the families are currently situated.

We interviewed families and officially invited them to attend the event.

THE MOST ANTICIPATED AND BIGGEST DAY OF THE MONTH!

Never ending gratitude to the steemian and non-steemian volunteers who made the event possible. Indeed, it has been a restless week for each and everyone but still they were able to maketh. Without these people, the event wouldn't be possible and successful.

You can see it from their faces that each one of them are very excited for their presents. How amazing it is that steemit continues to put smile on their faces.

We provided 10 kilos of rice (each family), consumable goods, basic daily needs, monetary assistance and free packed food dinner to all the attendees including the families and the volunteers!

The room was blown away by the laughs that each and everyone shared by our enthusiastic volunteers who entertained by playing the game "steemit hooray"! Please watch the video to see how it went.

We ended the event with a bang, we had made a huge heart and inside a steemit logo. It only means that steemit has changed our hearts and forever will be. We are forever grateful of this platform. We will use this to make a difference in each other's lives. We will never stop spreading the community because we all know that there are people out there who really need this life changing opportunity.
