Anxiety and Anger
I've been struggling with wrenching anxiety and anger almost every day, all day and all night, for a few months now. And for no seeming good reason either. I barely sleep (anger keeps me from falling asleep and wakes up too), and going to work and feeds my anger and anxiety like coal to a fire. All I wanted to do was to cuddle up inside my skin and stay away from the world.
That being said, I highly doubt anyone noticed the intensity of my predicament.
The Change
But I wanted to make a change. I started reading The Miracle Morning and it reminded me to meditate in the morning. It had been a few years since I last meditated for real.
So the next day I leave the house a little earlier, go to a coffee shop to order my tea and before I take my first sip, I take 5 min to close my eyes and find my silence.
It felt like a breath of fresh air. I felt like I was on vacation. I found that space inside of me that is capable of being free of worry, free of things to do, that space that is capable of feeling happiness for absolutely no reason.
It was brief but I loved the experience so much. It's been about 2 weeks now, and I've been doing these 5 min of inner freedom every single morning.
Moving Forward
My life hasn't completely changed full circle, but a lot of little things are different. I added a 10 min relaxation/meditation right after my evening workouts about 3 or 4 times a week.
Even though my work situation is quite stressful right now, the meditation/silence helps me find my sense of self, refresh, and have enough agency to start looking for other alternatives.
If you are struggling with anxiety and anger the way I have, maybe this will inspire you to find 5 min of silence at the beginning of the day.
If you've been there and got yourself out of it, please feel free to let me know what worked for you.
Thank you for your heartnest message. I’ve found meditation to be the best for my anger and anxiety as well. Feel free to check out my blog, I’m writing mainly on meditation techniques and maybe you’ll find one you like most- my favorite is Tai Chi. Thank you for posting!
