Just a quick blerb from a health care dude since i havent read any on here yet. I spend a lot of my time telling people things that i assume they should know. Ultimately these things take a lot of lives and its heart breaking when you look at the amount of time we spend on leisure activities, working to make money, drugs, sex, rock and roll, etc etc. Basic healthcare and prevention will always center around a spiritual basis fueling altruism and compassionate interactions aimed at preventing premature morbidity and mortality. But why does that matter. This is the question that underpins everything else and the thing modern allopathic western medicine fails miserably at. It is the reason i think it has to center around a spiritual basis before anything else. Def not the cash cow medicine has turned into in our century. Mental well being, exercise, awareness in all endeavors, compassion for ourselves and others and the human condition, courage and fearlessness in facing our problems physical and mental as well as spiritual. This is the path to fitness and well being a doctor can not talk to patients about in the allotted 5-10 minutes HMO's and clinics that employ providers allow them these days. But it is the thing we need to spend the most time on if we want to save the population we work for so passionately. Pretending the emperor has on clothes is a slow road to unenlightened death that many are unknowingly choosing. Id rather fail being aware of my shortcomings than to fail due to a voluntarily chosen path of ignorance and lack of awareness. I hope the paradigm changes. IF not like the Titanic we can save some, but probably not all.
