Review: Matrix Resurrections – A Myth Destroyed

I just finished watching Matrix Resurrections, and unfortunately, I can only express my disappointment with this failed attempt to revive one of the greatest works of science fiction. If the goal was to throw the masterpiece of the original trilogy in the trash, they succeeded spectacularly. The film delivers a weak, soulless script that seems more focused on recycling iconic moments from the past than on building something new and memorable.

The scenes that try to emulate the grandeur of the previous films feel pale and lack impact. The original trilogy, even with the technological limitations of its time, deeply etched itself into the minds of its viewers with its balance of visual innovation, philosophy, and storytelling. Meanwhile, Matrix Resurrections feels like a collection of cheap nostalgia, incapable of living up to the legacy it carries.

What saddens me most is the emotional disconnect from the story. Instead of transporting us back into Neo and Trinity’s universe with a worthy plot, the film only leaves a sense of emptiness and frustration. Watching it felt like my eyes were bleeding as one of the pillars of pop culture was reduced to a caricature of itself.

My plea to those responsible for the franchise is clear: please, don’t continue this aberration. Let the Matrix legacy rest in peace. After all, it’s better to be remembered as a myth than to perpetuate a series of disappointments.
