RE: I have one word for you..."Math Sucks!" How I Convince My Students with Special Needs That Algebra is Important.

Amazing article @hanshotfirst !

I am a massive fan of brilliant teachers that work with people with special needs as a mother of two severely autistic non verbal kids, I rely so much on the support teachers like you provide.

It takes a special kind of person to choose to work with high needs individuals or as you said people who learn differently, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time and effort to influence and educate these kids.

I know from personal experience it takes a lot of time and energy to figure out the individual learning styles of each child, my daughter responds to repartition while my son requires space to observe from a distance until he feels comfortable enough with the situation to attempt the task.

They are capable of so much and truly poses astounding intelligence, I see it as our responsibility to figure out how to connect with each and every one of them.

Thank you again for being a really inspiring person and teacher, good luck with the post!

And I am a massive fan of parents who are involved in their children's education... and lives. Your kids are lucky to have you.

Thanks so much for saying :)

The teachers at my kids school are amazing, they go so far above and beyond the call of duty and they do it with a smile and understanding.

I spend a good ten minutes chatting with their teachers each day finding out how the kids went and if there were any issues or concerns and just what they did, this way I have some material for our 40 minute drive home - I can ask them questions, engage with them and help them respond by verbalising the emotions they express.

Without teachers none of this would be possible :)

That is wonderful to hear.
