Great post! If you were my math teacher in high school, it would NOT have been a torture for me. I had a good math teacher and I'm not saying he tortured me in his classes but I struggled with math and never understood how important it is in our everyday life. I learned the long and hard way.

I am not math guru and I just get by with the basics. But I have seen real life application of mathematics in our surrounding and the nature itself. I have seen its beauty.

From what I have read, I think you are a very good teacher. Thank you for helping your special needs kids learn the real essence of mathematics. I can relate to what they feel about math.
