Theory Behind Captain Marvel's Green Outfit!

in #marvel7 years ago (edited)

The production of Avengers 4 has been in full effect for some time and from the photos leaked from the set, we're surely in for an epic film! After it was announced that Brie Larson will be portraying Carol Danvers on-screen, fans have been dying to see a teaser or a first live action look at the long-awaited Captain Marvel and it finally came! A while back, we were actually given a peek at the concept art for Captain Marvel with her in her iconic blue, yellow, and red outfit but this time, it's a bit different.

Well, we can't deny that the costume looks astonishing though fans are split on one big factor regarding her outfit, some are displeased and some are excited about the color scheme. I'll be honest, I'm not happy with the color scheme either, unless she was a Green Lantern but...completely different universe. Here's the gist, knowing what I know from the history of Captain Marvel in the comics, when I saw this green outfit, I jumped up and down with excitement. Trust me when I say this, you should too.

For those who aren't aware, this green outfit has everything to do with Carol Danver's origin in becoming who she is as Ms. Marvel and then Captain Marvel.

Quick Explanation

The title of 'Captain Marvel' hasn't always belonged to Carol Danvers; in fact, it first belonged to Mar-Vell, A Kree soldier who came to Earth and was the first one to become the superhero, Captain Marvel. When he made his first appearance on Earth, he donned a green Kree soldier outfit. If comic book readers remember, he's actually the reason Carol Danvers obtained her abilities. Mar-Vell and Carol were quite close and were actually a pair of lovers; Carol was eventually captured and used as bait to attract Mar-Vell and after some conflict, a Kree device exploded and while Mar-Vell was able to rescue Carol, the device morphed her genetic DNA with Mar-Vell's Kree DNA, giving her his abilities.

With her abilities, she took on the persona of Ms. Marvel and then after the death of Mar-Vell, she took over as the new Captain Marvel, having her own suit based off of Mar-Vell's second outfit with the original blue, yellow, red, and the star on the chest!

What's Marvel Going For?

Knowing that Carol has a bit of Kree in her, how is Marvel going to work her origin into the cinematic universe? We already know that Jude Law has been cast as Mar-Vell in the upcoming Captain Marvel film but are we going to see a different origin? From the video above and the set photos, a lot of speculation is going on behind what's taking place in the scene displayed and what it could mean for her story.

My Theory:

Looking at the Kree outfit and Carol standing confused on the street while holding a map of what I think could be New York City, I feel as if Carol Danvers is actually going to have a similar origin compared to Mar-Vell's comic book origin on-screen. What if Mar-Vell never became Captain Marvel and he was only a Kree soldier and instead of leaving Carol to recover on her own after the explosion, he took her to the Kree planet, Kree-Lar? There she recovered and discovered her Kree abilities. She could be traveling back to Earth from Kree-Lar and arrived in New York. This could be why she's wearing the Kree soldier outfit, she may have taken the uniform before she left. Maybe Carol heard the news of Thanos reaching Earth to retrieve the Infinity Stones and end the Avengers and showed up to help in the fight. If my theory is true, it would definitely be interesting to see and would surely give us an inside look on who the Kree really are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We won't possibly know the answers to these questions till a trailer or the film is released but what do you think? Comment down below!
