Are you sharing your Hive content on social media?
If you are not, you are missing out on a big opportunity to help "onboard the masses". Granted most of us don't have enough reach on Twitter and other social media to really onboard thousands of users but collectively we have a lot of reach.
We won't be able to do it though just tweeting using the #hive tag and shouting how much you love Hive.
No one wants to be sold to, or told what to do.
Casual conversation and sharing content that is interesting is a great way to get people's attention. If you follow me on Twitter (@itsjustmarky) you will see I tweet out a lot of my posts even those that have nothing to do with Hive, in fact those are the best posts to tweet!
You will also notice when I tweet I always use related tags in addition to #hive. In fact, the more popular the tag, the greater your reach. When I am writing about Crypto, I will frequently use tags like #btc, #bitcoin, #crypto, and #cryptonews so I can reach a lot more people outside of Hive. I really doubt there are many people sitting on Twitter watching the tag #hive. There are tons of people watching #crypto #cryptonews and other more mainstream tags.
For example, I recently just shared my 3D Printing post with the tags #3dprinting #hive, I could have done a bit more like #maker and #diy but I didn't think of it at the time.
Sometimes I'll do a Google search for popular Twitter tags, and there are a few websites that will show you trending Twitter tags right now, and I try to find one or two I might be able to work into my tweet. It does no good to tweet about something that doesn't relate to the tags you use, but many times you can find clever ones to work in.
This is a good site to use to find current popular tags. Using a trending tag effectively is very effective as well.
https://www.tweeplers.com/hashtags/?cc=WORLD
https://www.tweeplers.com/hashtags/?cc=US
You can see today is heavily focused on politics and would be more difficult to work in, depending on your content is worth checking once and a while.
Also keep an eye on what's trending, you can see it on the bottom right. These tags are really popular and can give you a lot more visibility, but are typically difficult to work in.
I don't write about politics, so right now it's difficult to work in trending tags, but you can easily come up with tags that have a lot of traffic. You can also use Twitter's tag insight to find good tags that have a lot of traffic.
In some cases it will even help you find trending tags.
For really currently hot tags, you can even see how active they are right now.
Good use of tagging can give a Twitter account with even no followers a lot more reach.
I used to use Twitter a lot before Steem, never before have I been able to have conversations with Rock Stars, Actors, Politicians, even John McAffee as casual as leaving a comment on Hive.
Twitter may be centralized, it may be evil, they may censor you, but it is a extremely freaking effective tool. You would be crazy not to take advantage of that tool to achieve your goals.
If you haven't already, set up a Twitter account, set up a Reddit account, use it to share your content with others, use it to raise awareness of Hive, but do in a fashion doesn't sound like a cat in heat.
@poshbot has your back and will let you know if anyone shares your content on Twitter.
This is a very important subject ...
With the introduction of Most Viewed sorting algorithms on Peakd.com this last week or so I have paid attention to when I share a post on social media (for me FB) both times the post has been in around the top 5 most viewed posts on all of PeakD just by sharing it with an audience that is truly interested in reading/looking at pictures. (In my case it was my actual long term friends on fb who I assume want to know what I'm up to)
A month ago i did a post about fall colors and shared it with a fb group that talks all about fall colors in utah and the post got hundreds of views.
If we really want our posts to be seen we need to put them in front of people that are genuinely interested and that still primarily happens outside of Hive for now.
Actual genuine interest in content is something I would like to focus on more with peakd ... one stat is views which has been nice to promote those that do well... when I have vote power available I use my account and peakd account to additionally award them because getting eyeballs on your posts is something that should be considered rewardable for sure.
I really love the introduction of Most viewed, so glad you guys added it.
I think general topics are critical because it will help build the long tail for search optimization and general traffic. We want people to see Hive posts when they search for mundane and every day searches. That will get us in front of more people.
I want to work on some things that are focused on sharing on different mediums as I think that's critical for Hive to be in front of more people.
well if there's anything you think we can integrate let us know.
Thanks for sharing twitter trends site. 👏😎
Obviously it doesn't always work, but I've always found the comics community to be particularly engaging.
Nowadays there's few more filter options to keep their notifications "enjoyable" and interaction has lowered a little. It's slightly harder to get a Jim Lee RT than it was in 2015 lol.
But plenty of creators still provide some extra visibility.
Great mention here, Marky. You are right that it needs to be natural way in able for us to persuade people to check what we have on Hive.
I admit that many of us, including myself, is still slowly learning on improving our HIVETwitter reach. Some time ago, some of us are shouting "Hive to the moon" over and over again.
Although there is still more room for improvements, I am excited to see some improvements like the initiative of #HIVETask with the help of @theycallmedan sponsoring our @hivetips.
Do you have any insigth for that? I will appreciate any ideas or maybe contest or what do you call for that ideas to further promote on Twitter?
If I saw this tweet show up, I would likely ignore it. It has a very spammy look to it. Similar to the Discord messages you get that you won 0.1 BTC.
Your audience is likely only Hive users, so it isn't a huge concern, but if you just glance at it without really reading the words, you might see what I mean.
When at all possible, I try to use natural conversation in my interactions, it avoids the mental spam filter.
Thanks for the advice, I am willing to learn and work to further improve of sharing Hive to other social media. Feel free to advice us if anything sparks in our brilliant mind 🤟🔥
HIVETask is spam, or has been spam so far. And in the USA it's illegal as well because it are sponsored tweets and thus requires disclosure in every tweet.
I know, I know... Plenty of people love jumping in the utterly disgusting Nile river so let's just jump in too.
But it's begging to be reported and eventually someone will after their tweets were flooded with Hive comments.
I am not sure if HiveTask we are doing can be called a spam, as you will notice that the tweet we are approaching is only a tweet problem that Hive can be solution. Its like of incentizing people to help others to see what Hive can offer to their problem.
You pretty much incentivize people to blast a comment thread. Quantity over quality. And the targets are even made aware of that via the quote tweet.
That is spamming one's comments.
A good community manager/social account manager will generate a much higher engagement level, and potential conversion, than this method will ever generate.
Those tweets you relay with the tweeple with the higher profile or best pitch game.
Target devs on OpenSea who must pay ridiculous amounts of GAS and would benefit from building on Hive. And for whose community HIVE would be much more beneficial as well.
The most powerful person is a storyteller.
Target people who promote their fiverr profiles. If they're designers, artists get them in NFT, by also engaging Hive NFT creators. If they're authors... do I even need to continue?
Grow a community. Eventually the big voices will actually engage with you, because they see you bring something to the table. Now, if they already get notified, they see a quote tweet telling people they will rewarded for blasting that person's tweet.
Targeting and talking about the authors concern is I do not think will fall on Spam. The fact that the author of the tweet is sharing it to the world, I guess he/she is looking for any better solution or to express all frustrations.
Talking how Hive can be a solution to your current problem is also helping them own their freedom of speech.
I admit that quote tweet is still an experiment. I am still thinking of how better deal this.
Honestly speaking, I do not see my own twitter account can continue longer in the near future. I will not be surprise if I do not have access on it tomorrow. Thankfully we have Hive that cannot kill my freedom of speech. So for me, I am riding my Twitter game until the wheels fall off the ground, until its no longer working aka suspended account. Thanks for bringing up your concern, appreciate that ❤
I was wondering if it's possible to make the posh bot say "Tweeted by xyz" and have that message hyperlinked to the tweet? And any subsequent tweets could be edited into the original comment? The second bit is probably complicated, I dunno much about coding.
It's an interesting and useful bot. Or as reddit says, good bot.
It already does, the rich Twitter embeds already show who it is from and you can click on them. Look at the one above this comment.
I see this on Peakd.
I meant like:
That happens if you don't let the page load fully. It should switch to a rich Twitter embed. It can take 1-5 seconds for the Twitter embeds to load. It also happens if a Tweet was deleted.
This is how it looks for me.
If you have some sort of ad blocker, you might be blocking it as well. Try turning it off and see if it loads, but first reload the page and see if it pop ups.
Oh yeah, I was gonna mention I had seen it in that manner too. It takes up a lot of space doesn't it?
It does, but I'm ok with that. I think it makes the comment section look better, and brings attention to where it is being shared and talked about, especially when it is someone else who tweeted your post. I find it very valuable information, but that's just me.
To each their own.
Yeah, I'm into writing like short stories, so I often used the tag and somehow from #writingcommunity followed me on Twitter. Not too many but still it's nice to catch new people to learn more about #hive.
I am sharing the content I create on Hive almost everywhere else too.
Actually since I have quite a large youtube channel, I was thinking of doing a video, some kind of promotion for hive. yet I have not decided what kind. To create art with a Hive theme or something
You can start just by talking about what you create here.
As a newbie to the blockchain, I want to say thank you for sharing content such as this.
People are more than willing to help and assist whenever you need assistance, but being new to all this, you don't even always know what to ask questions about.
Then you start looking around and find posts such as this. Thank you for sharing this useful information!
Does POSH bot give out posh tokens? I forget.
Not my bot (@poshbot), there is poshtoken project that has a leaderboard and is run by @acidyo.
Sharing our Hive content on social media... exactly for what?
Oh! for that? now I begin to understand!! };)
I am not
Twitter es un mal necesario 🤔
I just started a similar plan to get my fellow skaters to join me on Hive, and so far I think it's working way better than just trying to sell people on the idea. Now mind you I don't have a big twitter following, but I do have some pretty big exposure on the facebook longboarding world. I run a group that has over 500 members, and am part of other groups that are in the 10's of thousands.
I just pitched a group of just under 10,000 members, to send me videos for me to share on Hive, and then I will transfer the profits to them minus the cost of transfer. So far the first couple posts have done well, which has lead to a huge spike in questions about Hive, friend requests, and a fair amount of videos for me to share. I win because I get more content to share, they win because they get money, and Hive wins because it's a great exposure to it, with out coming across as preachy, or like a salesman.
Great value post here @themarkymark i do share my hive content on social media platforms thanks for all the info bro have a blessed and successful week
Excellent recommendations, I always share my content on twitter and try to interact there too, but here you show us other interesting options. Thank you.
Ironic is your choice of header imagery: youth on their mobile phones. Yet no complete Hive app exists that could be both the onramp and the outlet for spending rewards.
That's what gains masses.
I'm critical of these 'promote hive' initiatives because on the one hand this is celebrated as superior to those old systems but then if the necessity to craftily try entice those 'old system users' is requested (somewhat demanded) of the community then something is broken.
There just isn't a product here that speaks for itself. So again that's THE missing factor: user easy in, rewards easy out. Mobile app with wallet connected to either fiat or merchants is vital. Plus chat by default because social connectivity is internet. I know these things aren't so easy to create but then again that's the issue. Trying to onboard masses when the system can't yet cater to that is hardly going to achieve the desired outcome.
Onboarding to enrich the communities here already, need no perfect system. Those willing to commit will obviously fill the void with secondary/external systems. Mass however, always demand everything provided already on their device of choice or they just don't care for it.
Greetings friend, great tips for those of us who publish information about hive on Twitter, I will take them into account !
I do! On Facebook, Twitter, Discord, and sometimes on Instagram too! I have trust in the future of the hive :)
I will share more on tweeter the social media value we can get on Hive.
Peace
Yes. I share my posts on Facebook, Twitter and Telegram
Congratulation
