#How does the company decide what to sell?
There are four directions:
- Sell anything that is available.
- Create something that people ask for.
Predict what one would ask. - Produce something that no one will demand but will make buyers happy.
Do not just sell a product, sell an experience. Harley Davidson sells more than a motorcycle. It sells a car owner experience. It provides a membership in a community. It organizes adventure tours. It sells a lifestyle. All products are worth more than a single motorcycle.
And help the buyer use the product. explain how it works, how to use it for safety, how to extend its durability. If I spent $ 30,000 on a car, I would buy it from a company that would help me maximize the value of using the car. Carl Sewell delivers this message in his book (paired with Paul Brown). Customers for life. He not only sells cars, but also is responsible for repairing, cleaning, introducing lenders and other things.
