Marketing via email is achieved by sending a well-designed advertisement to a list of prospects most likely to be influenced to act.
Quality is of utmost importance in building a list of prospects specifically for particular advertisement and best achieved through marketing surveys and filtration systems which categorize visitors to websites based on their choices, the categorization of social media contacts as well as contacts made through incoming inquiries and information gathered through other sales and contact situations.
Websites
Websites and blogs can attract visitors if you can provide interesting material and preferably have visitors subscribe to newsletters and or fill in marketing questionnaires which provide information on their life interests and preferences. From this information you can decide which visitors to categorize as prospects.
Networking
Know your product well and design a presentation which is likely to convince prospects to consider you offering when shopping for your product. A 30 second introductory statement is an excellent tool, along with a good summary of the benefits of using your services. You can then use these tools whenever you meet anyone anywhere and exchange information with them. This is called networking and is an excellent means of gathering mailing list contacts.
Word of Mouth
Your most valuable marketing advertisement is a satisfied customer and you should ensure that you find ways to motivate your customers to recommend your services to others. Incentives are really useful here.
Social networking
Social networking systems provide a wonderful opportunity to develop a group of contacts who trust in you and even commit via the “follow” features on Twitter and Facebook. In this regard it is important that you join or preferably create interest groups which gather prospect which are already interested in the kind service you provide.
Building vs. buying lists
Buying a contact list is rarely worthwhile and can be demoralizing as failure is most likely.
Build a good quality list methodically and allow it to develop over time.
It is important to keep contact information current and therefore to find ways to get information updates from your contacts.
If prospects are not subscribing then you need to work on your content to ensure you are interesting.
