Happy Friday y'all! I am in a fabulous mood cuz I have the weekend off and don't have to be a slave to the man at the work tomorrow! YES!! About once every two months, I try to get my bunny butt down to the market at The Palms Centre.
The wonderfully effervescent @dswigle hosts #MarketFriday, and I truly urge you to join her weekly challenge by posting your photos of your local markets.
The market is just a few minutes down the road from where I work, so I often pop in after closing shop on a Saturday.
I buy my honey there, because in SA, it is hard to find pure honey without additives and other syrup ingredients in the regular stores.
There is a flippen amazing Indian food stall, with the most delicious Chili Bites and samoosas. I usually ask the lady to dish me a few of each and then @morkrock and I have snacks for dinner that evening.
Another one of my favourite vendors is the Stonehill Olive Farm stall. They have some seriously delicious olives, in many variations. My favourites include the flavoured olives sold by the kilo, with infusions such as rosemary and garlic, chilli and lemon, and smoked green olives. I also love the tapenades. The smoked one is just so good on fresh crunchy ciabatta.
There are also plants. Keep me away from there!.
Fresh fruit and vegetables. I once bought the biggest avocado pear I have ever seen in my life there.
It is set in a beautiful old building, which actually used to be a bakery, home to what is now one of the most well known biscuit brands in South Africa - Bauman's Biscuits.
I love going there to take in the architecture. With the sun streaming through the sky light and the space humming with people, music and conversation, The Palms Market is a charming spot to have a coffee or glass of wine and buy a few weekend supplies.

OH heavens I WANT those olives! I LOVE olives, in fact I eat them everyday on my salad. Olives and feta together are my joy food :)
What an amazing market, you are lucky in that, but I am sure you know that.
oooh, i love olives too. Really love. I like the rosemary ones the most, and the smokey ones
Anytime I look at the work you put into your blog it blows me away, the pattern of the markdowns the self designs added with the creamy look as well it takes me away, this is astounding
Ah thanks my guy! That is a really lovely compliment
🦄🤲
Oh I love all that food up in your pics 🤗. Smoked green olives...i wonder what kind of smoke? Im going to try doing that on my grill 😊
Mmm I don’t know. Perhaps it’s real smoke in a smoker, or maybe even just a flavourant?
Maybe...when I try I will make sure I tell you how it did. Experimenting ..
So cool! I love little markets like this! I have a little farmer's market close by where I can get all kinds of good deals on produce. Last time I was there I got 8 pounds of strawberries for $2 dollars. Normally at my normal supermarket you will pay 2 bucks for 1 pound! hehe
Oh me too! There is one lady that only does avocados, she wasn’t there on this occasion, but she has HUUUGGGE farm avocados that will feed a family vs the piddly ones we get in the supermarkets here.
oh wow that is awesome! I love avocados! Whenever I want to make guac, I go to this farmer's market, they usually have great deals on them, I can get like 4 medium sized ones for a dollar. But they are always pretty small.
Wow😋
OMG stop with the tapenade, you’re making me so hungry!
haha! It was so fantastic, I must say x
Ok well this is me trying hard not to be jealous! Keep eating healthy and encouraging local vendors!
All this food make me wanna eat something, i love markets, unlucky in my city we do not have a market =(
