But first, a flower. Always a flower.
Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. They will all be in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you! ❤
This week I went to a used bookstore In Old Town, during my #WednesdayWalk with @TattoedJay. See here It is a little different than most of the secondhand bookstores that I have been in. This is it. Step right around the corner and you're in!
I like the way the buildings reflect in the bookstore windows. Oh, yes! I am all about the reflections.
Once upon a time hits you right in the face. Brownie camera sitting on top of a stack of books, vintage posters, Candlestick telephones. I even saw an old singer sewing machine. I never even asked if they were for decoration or for sale, but, I will bet that they were there to set the stage for the books. I really liked the old license plates.
I must say that there are some very unusual things in here, but, I certainly feel like I stepped back in time. Very much implying that some aspect is similar to something that would have been common sometime in the past.
I breathe in the smell of history.
Old books are everywhere. I love the feel, the touch, the way they smell. I do love my kindle, but, nothing will replace the binding of a book and the words framed in between those pages.
The entire store is a haven of treasures.
A plain white ceiling hardly rates a cursory glance. But cover it with richly patterned metal panels, and instantly it becomes an eye-catching feature. As seen here
I have always loved books, they take me on an adventure, to another world, doing things I have never done, seeing things I have never seen.
What is your favorite book of all time?
What kind of books do you like to read?
As always, thank you for participating in #MarketFriday! The effort put into gathering and putting a post together is appreciated. Thank you for sharing your part of the world with all of us! Happy Friday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Love old books and reading and love the smell of the stores. I like the way you describe it - "I breathe in the smell of history." :)
I'm not currently reading any book...
I do love used books or books that have been given a second life. What better way to share than to share knowledge, even fiction carries a certain amount, even if only in writing or grammar. I love that there is a lesson there somewhere.
I like all kinds of books and just finished Agatha Christies The Man in the Brown Suit but almost any genre will be picked up and read. I am so tired at night, I have been lacking my reading time, but, someday, I dream of reading a book during daytime hours. :)
Thanks for the visit!
Tip!
Haha, yes I get sleepy at night if I try to read!
I have no idea what happened to me! I used to read for hours at night. Now, my head hits the pillow and I am gone. At least I believe it waits that long!
Hi @violetmed! You have received 0.1 SBD tip from @dswigle!

They sure have a nice collection of vintage items.
All one needs to know about life can be learned from Mark Twain. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is foundational.
Here is my link.
https://steemit.com/photography/@old-guy-photos/shots-from-the-old-guy-s-day
Thank you for taking the time and effort to put together a post for #MarketFriday. Oh, under the wire (barely!) again!
What did I learn from the book of Huckleberry Finn? I can say that I learned the value of friendship and I should always use those same values to make decisions... ones that should be based on my heart, not always what is in my head.
And more, but, that is for another day and another post. And my, oh, my! What an incredible shot with rays of shine breaking through the frame of clouds. Majestic.
Tip!
Yes I really like your take away on that. I would only add to follow your heart regardless what society and even those around you think. The culture and people were wrong.
I always enjoyed MF even though it is by far the hardest challenge around. I am sure I will continue to do it now and again ;)
Much obliged for the tip.

I like the smell of books, I like the smell of the library. I think I feel the smell of this bookstore you show us on today's market. It looks more like an antique shop ... I like a lot of these stores. You have tied the market today very nicely to your walk on Wednesday! Flower photos are gorgeous!
I also like the smell of lubraries. I worked at a library for many years, and was always grateful for my job there. It was so nice to come home smelling of books, and not take out fast food like if I may have worked somewhere else.
Thanks! You are the best able to confirm this.
Hi, Dan! Somehow, I knew you would love books and their smell. You are so right, it does look more like an antique shop than a bookstore, but, I think the man was trying to infuse a sense of history and adventure, much like some of the books we read.
At least, that is the way I interpret it. :)
Hehe... I did tie the two post together a little. It was so obvious that this bookstore needed to be done, especially after going in it the first time, many moons ago. I have no idea why I haven't used it yet. But, another one to cross off the list. Thank goodness I will be going on vacation next week so I can bring a new Market this way.
Thank you for stopping by #MarketFriday and your always generous comments. We must have flowers, yes! :)
Tip!
My pleasure, you know! Now when I feel a little interest here... almost the only pleasure is this exchange of comments with the people we like. I wish you a pleasant vacation and come back with a lot of topics!

Hi, sweetie, I couldn't make this week for #MarketFriday, I guess it's one of the few, if any, times I missed it! But I've enjoyed seeing the markets of the world, and loved your post! I too love the smell of old books and the atmosphere of them, and sometimes the mystery around them. Whom have they belonged? Whose hands have touched them, which thoughts and ideas have they given to those who have read them? Have them made they cry, or smile? Here in ET, as there are no libraries and the bookshops are not worthy of the name, we struggle to get some reading. So some bars have a bring one, get one bookshelf of books and those are the ones I'm reading for a while. Some of them even have dedicatories, or are underlined, and I always wonder how they may have influenced those who have read them... "your" bookshop is wonderful and I loved the way you shared it! About my favorite book, I don't know where to start... But I really love the classics, and the one that comes to my mind is "The little women".
So, as I haven't made my post, here is one of my market favorite photo ever! It's a women at the floating market in Can Tho, Vietnam, at the Mekong delta! she was selling delicious pineapples!
This one I dedicate to you! Big hug and xoxo, my dear Denise! Resteemed!
How sweet of you!! You know I love the Mekong Delta and this is a wonderful shot, especially with the brim of her rice hat (I always remember them being referred to as coolie hats)
I have always appreciated the fact that you never miss #MarketFriday and even this week you come over to peruse! Yay! Thank you for being so kind and caring.
I feel the same way about books and I have always loved when I get a book underlined and little footnotes. I got a bible like that at a secondhand store and was fascinated by what this person found notable. I have bought many new books, but, the used ones usually rate #1 with me. I like to give new life.
Indeed. Little Women! Laura Ingalls Little House on the Prarie rated right up there too and Anne of Green Gables. I bet you liked Jo!!! ;)
I did, she was my favorite, yes! You know me well by now, sweetie! Thanks for your wonderful words, as always, my dear Denise! I'm truly happy to have you in my inner circle on Steemit! Big hug to you, luv!
I actually really like how the books are sitting in the window like that too! I just got back into reading a lot again so I probably would’ve loved to be there :).

Thank you. The sun was pretty high in the sky, so I knew I was going to get a reflection, but, it was not a disappointment. Reading has always been a great adventure for me, ever since I was a little kid. I loved my time when I could curl up and travel to places unknown.
If you love reading, secondhand bookstores are a great place. I love the thought of giving another life to a book. What are you currently reading? I am in between books, but, just finished The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie. Good to see you back again and thank you for visiting #MarketFriday!
Tip!
My local library has been taking care of me really nicely so far! Maybe one day I’ll want to buy to start a small Home library of my own though.
Currently reading a collection of short stories titled “The Largesse of the Sea Maiden” by Denis Johnson. All the stories have been great and feature reflection of mortality and deeper meaning. Idk seems morbid but I’ve enjoyed it!
Posted using Partiko iOS
I am in the process of having a neighborhood library box built so that everyone can take a book, leave a book and the books can live on through many hands. I love the concept - whoever started it.
No judgment here, mortality is a very real thing and I love books that have deeper meanings within their bindings. Thank you again and I don't mind not having too big a library, I just keep passing them on for others to enjoy!
Yes! The library box would work perfect. We actually have a few of those along a walking trail at my school and it works great!
Posted using Partiko iOS
They do! I love them and always make sure to pop a new one in the box. Or two. One for a kid and one for an adult.

I love book stores! The finds can be fascinating. One of my all time favorite books is Jane Eyre and another is Gone With the Wind.
There is just something about bookstores! Always has been and yes! The finds can be quite amazing. It is a place I can walk in blindfolded and know exactly where I am.
Jane Eyre and Gone with the Wind. I want you to know that doesn't surprise me one bit. I sort of knew that about you and honestly both of those were all-time favorites although I have become somewhat eclectic over the years. I still enjoy curling up to a great book, losing myself in another place and time. (whenever there Is time!)
Thanks for visiting #MarketFriday, and I hope you have a most fabulous weekend!

Hi @wandrnrose7! You have received 0.1 SBD tip from @dswigle!

Looks like a nice mom and pop bookstore those are getting harder to find. The more corporate and large ones I find rather boring to even enter these days. They seem so keen on upselling you on membership cards, and a bunch of things you just don’t care for. Must have been a year since I’ve step inside one.
I do love science and science fiction books. It has been a while since I’ve gone out and tried to find anything new.
I’ve been very slowly reading a book called Electric Universe. I only pick up once in a while and read a page or two of it. Shockley I’m only on page 104 for owning it for a few months now. I do enough reading these days it seems I just lack much interested in doing more of ii.
It is a great store and yes! They are getting harder and harder to find. We still have plenty of them around here, surprisingly. My entire family loves science, math and medicine and aerodynamics. Weird crew. :)
I have never heard of Electric Universe but, now I am going to have to look it up. I think the internet has really damaged the book industry. I still love to curl up and read, which I usually do every night before I go to bed. I don't like to stimulate my poor brain any more than it already is by staying on the internet until I drop off. It took training though! :)
Big box stores hold no fascination for me either, but, now and again I do have to darken their doors. Thanks for always stopping by. It is surely appreciated!
I do enjoy the sensation of holding and smelling a physical book. I see people use e-book readers and such and it just feels like there no heart to such a device. I can understand not everyone has the room for real books and I’m sure they are really cheap and just 1 click away.
Have a wonderful week!
I agree!
You have a fabulous one!
Once upon a time hits you right in the face....beautiful words. I love this type of bookstore. Book already allow you to travel, to another country, time, culture. But this type of bookstore in itself is an adventure! Lovely @dswigle . My favourite books are the type that take you back in time. I love the old west settings but also the old fashioned Dickens and Gaskell or Bronte sisters. Currently working my way through Agatha Christie!
Thank you! It is always what I feel like when I go into a bookstore, there is a story inside...somewhere. I love used books, I can only imagine how many minds have traveled places within those pages. Of course, I also loved Borders and it was a sad day in my life when they shuttered those doors, forever closing off my couch and coffee mecca.
But, the settings here only enhance my already running mind. Agatha Christie! Oh, yes. I just finished reading The Man in the Brown Suit There are so many brilliant stories written! Thank you for visiting #MarketFriday!
Tip!
Borders closed?! Why! When I lived in the States I bought a LOT of books. I had to then pay a LOT when I returned to SA with all my books. Then I lived in England for a few years and visited their wonderful second hand book stores....and bought a LOT of books....
I meant the Borders that was a new bookstore. They closed a few years back as Amazon took over and Borders had turned them down years ago to be their supplier/shipper. So when the world went shopping online, many of the stores like that shut their doors, sdly.
I miss my place on their couch, by the fireplace, sipping a cappuccino with my words.
Sigh.
So is it South Africa for good now? I have traveled since I left college and can honestly say that life is a wonderful adventure!
Life is a wonderful adventure @dswigle. I can't say I don't get the wanderlust every now and then. But my husband and I would love to buy a tiny home on wheels and travel that way. Something really unique and doable with children. So, yes, SA for good, for now, but if you're following the news (what may leak out) things are really bad here at the moment. I am not a fan of politics but there's no denying the white genocide in this beautiful country. I wrote my last post about it, simply because I feel that the world at large is oblivious of the truth
I did read your last post, but, I went back and looked and there is no comment, so it is most likely when steem isn't working. Usually, that is during #MarketFriday! :)
Things are not good there and I have friends that live there also. Oh, how things have changed there. The leaks are little, but, I get government warnings on places that are verboten. I can liken it to when one of the former Soviet countries was having the same issue and the world turned a blind eye.
Totally disgusting. Please take great care and stay safe.
It is totally disgusting! But you are right about leaks being verboten. Thank you @dswigle

This definitely took me back in time and I’m glad you allowed us to come with you. I love seeing old books and gadgets so this post was a real treat! Hopefully I will get to share with you all for #marketfriday next week! We went to a state fair and got to see some fun items!! 😉
Great job on your #markerfriday initiative! It took off really well~ ❤️
You are so sweet! Thank you! I love perusing second-hand bookstores, especially ones like this, where they are an adventure just walking through the door. Do you have a favorite author or is it even possible you have time to read?
I would be very excited to see the State Fair! It is getting to be that time of year, isn't it? They are always so much fun and I look forward to it if you have the time!
Thank you so much for the visit and I hope that all is well in your wonderful world. ❤️
Tip!
You are very welcome ~
Haaa the most reading I get to do seems to be right here on Steemit!! I currently do not have a favorite author. I tend to read books centered around family and marriage when I get the chance.
Oh yes I love going to state fairs!! I will definitely try to make time this week to share.
All is well here, thank you!! I appreciate the tip! 💗
Mwah!! The pleasure is always mine! 💗

Hello Denise, so I finally made it. Well I am having a computer situation since last week and I am waiting for a new one. I am behind with everything, but it's still Friday so here I am with the post I promised.
https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@lenasveganliving/sheridan-nurseries-for-market-friday
And this book store is truly something else. What a charming place, full of rustic items and old books. Just the way I like it, because I love old things. Besides that, I grew up around books, because my father used to work in a library and we had lots book at home as well, because he loved to read. My mom was reading mystery books and I liked reading those too, lol.
Oh, sweetie! I know you have had those issues and my heart went out to you, especially with your contest, so thank goodness for good people like @plantstoplanks! I am behind on everything, but, for very different reasons. I love that you came anyway and I already peeked at your amazing post. I have no idea how you can put them together so fast and so well.
I am the slowest poke in the West, except I live in the East, but, whatever!
Thank you for taking the time, energy and the frustration it must be to put one together and you know how much I appreciate you dropping the link!
The bookstore is one of dozens in the area, we do love our books here, especially the secondhand type. There is always one more life we can give it, right??? Oh, how cool that you dad worked in the library! I am in the process of making a library box for the house, to give everyone the opportunity to get one, leave one. I just love the idea and had no idea who started it!
Thanks again and I will go back over to reread it after dinner! Love to you, my friend! 💗
Tip!
I wasn't sure if you knew, but I I didn't read and reply to all the FAV comments. I have to that now. The carnal tunnel syndrome is not helping neihter, lol. I am going for surgery on September 26th with one hand and few weeks later with the other. I am going to need Katie to take charge for longer. I already mentioned that to her.
Anyway, this book store is truly a treasure. I love how everything is nicely organized there as well. I never been in such a nice old book store before. I have see online if I can find one in Toronto 😊
Thank you so much for the tip 🌸💖🌸
Well, you may not have to worry. Most people haven't been able to post for almost a week. If you work or only have a set amount of time, you are in trouble. I tried to post last #MarketFriday for Five hours last week and it finally went. That was not worth it! OMG!
This week, it broke last night and fixed on and off... I finally posted it at 4:15am That was ridiculous. Please make somebody fix it!
I hope you can find a bookstore in Toronto. I love secondhand! What a deal they are! Oh, the tip is so tiny but it is meant to show a little love! ❤️
For me posting is no problem as far Busy goes. But I have 45 Steem missing from my wallet.
Well, it was not working last night! Trust me. I was using Busy. I could comment, but, not post. So frustrating. You have 45 Steem mising?
That is a problem. Were you hacked?
I always use Busy. Steemit never works for me. And about that 45 Steem, if I was hacked, why would they take only Steem and not SBD? I am powering down because I needed the money and I just got my weekly 45, on Wednesday but I didn't transfer it to Bitrex becase the value is so low. I decided to wait and now it gone.

@dswigle I loved this shopping tours, old relics we could appreciate in that beautiful place, it was like traveling in time
Favorite books are, The alchemist of Paulo Coelho and the power is in you of Isabell Allende
Thank you very much for publishing this wonderful work
I wish you a beautiful weekend
Thank you @jlufer! It is always such a pleasure to see you here at #MarketFriday! All those old pieces make the adventure come alive! I agree that it is a special place, perhaps beautiful in its own way. I do like it there and the people are so nice!
I love the book the Alchemist! Who wouldn't want to learn the secret of alchemy?? I can see clearly why you would like that. The Power is in You is one that I will have to look up. I am actually not familiar with it. Thank you for that. I am sure it is another must read!
Thank you for visiting #MarketFriday and just know that it is very much appreciated! As always, I wish you a most wonderful weekend, my friend.
Tip!
The power is in you is a very good self-help book, it helped me when I took my first steps as a commercial manager in a company.
I wish you a happy evening
Aha! That makes me want to look it up even more. I actually like some self-help books as I think people who have addressed the situation in their life already have a definite advantage of the situation.
Thank you and have a great night!

looks like an awesome book store, I love that pepsi crate!! I used to have a pepsi crate like they do, but I had to sell it when I was broke along with a Labatt beer one I had!
https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@shaunf/antiquing-time
Hi, Shaun! It was a great bookstore and the man had crates all over holding books in them. They were epic! I bet he had about 25 of them. Now, the Labatt beer one would have been pricey, I imagine. Not as many of those hanging out.
Thank you so much for dropping by #MarketFriday and dropping your link here! It is so much appreciated! I hope there is a good weekend involved for you!

I used to read a lot and often went to a bookstore or a library. Now I spend too much time in front of the computer, such a job. Maybe I should go to the bookstore? Thank you for your little motivation :) Greetings
Dobry wieczór, Greg!!
Get out from in front of that computer and go touch the binding of a book! It will change your day!
I love the library and the secondhand bookstore! That is where the deals are! I love the smell, the way it makes me feel, to get lost in the words of another. The bookstore! Tomorrow. :)
Have a great night!
Tip!
You will not believe it, I ordered "kindle paperwhite" yesterday.
Thanks to you :)

There is something about the smell of that takes me to another place. It is a pretty interesting place and the man who owns it is even more so. I hope you get out on your own adventure, you and your copilot. Safe travels and all.
Have a great weekend in the meantime! Thank you for stopping by #MarketFriday!
Tip!
I just had an adventure. I'm writing about it now, as a #marketfriday post. I'll be back @dswigle :)
Hehe! You know I can hardly wait. Tell me a story!!!!! :)

Your post was mentioned in the Steemit Hit Parade in the following category:
Thank you so much!
Oh I love books and reading especially, but now adays i hardly go to the shops to buy them, i get everything i need online, do you rick riordan? he is my all time favorite author. Anyway here is a link to my entry
https://steemit.com/promo-steem/@nattybongo/a-steem-visit-to-the-kumasi-city-mall
Thank you! Online has certainly taken the wind out of the sails for shops. Rick Jordan? I can recall the Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters. ;)
Oh I was hoping you would do this after seeing your teaser the other day! I love a book store or old library. I so agree with you about the smell! It just transports you to another world before you even read a word!
What books do I like to read? All of them! Haha, I go through phases where I read one genre for a few months then I switch it up. Right now I'm into finally reading some running tales (Born to Run at this very moment). Some of my favorite authors include Stephen King, Ken Follett, John Irving and probably quite a few more that I'm forgetting at the moment. Thank you for giving us a peak inside this lovely little world!
Hehe! I can't pull the wool over your eyes, now, can I? There is no place that can duplicate the smell of adventures like an old bookstore or library. Instant transportation to me. I have always loved to read and even as a kid, coveted that time when I could find a place to curl up and go away for a little while.
I have phases also, but right now, I am a little eclectic in my tastes. To this day, I still get shivers thinking about the first time I read The Shining LOL I just finished *The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie. Thank you so much for dropping by for a visit! We love when we see you at #MarketFriday!

Oh, books! I like books. Yes.
Yes! Somehow, I knew you would. I see you as an avid reader. What kind of books do you like to read? Or do your tastes run eclectic? Thank you for dropping by on #MarketFriday!
You are always a hoot!
Tip!
Mainly about Dutch history at the moment, but it varies greatly. There are also books about Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms and one on Markov Chains waiting for me. Don't ask; let's call it mathematics.
And literature, of course, mainly Dutch, English, French and German.
How hooty is that?
Wait! I just tried to say that all in one breath. Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms. Peak power voltage and I aren't friends.
Mathematics. Yes, That is fair. Literature becomes every person, in my opinion. You are so very well spoken in so many languages. You have my envy.
That is darn hooty! You better believe it! ;)
Saying that suggests you are 8-).
I also like books just for being books, the feel and smell and all that. I managed to fit a few thousand of them in the living room; I like to have them in sight.
How many did you buy today?
I cannot ever remember living without books in my life. I buy more secondhand books now that I ever used to, many because people read a brand new novel and donate it before it has been out a full week. Thank you! I appreciate it!
A few thousand in your living room! Ohhhh! That is my kind of house. I had a dedicated library in my last house (moving is part of the job) and this house doesn't have one, but, I have a place to put one. But, I may be moving in less than a year, so I probably won't. Oh, maybe they will send me back to Holland or perhaps even Den Haag. I would be okay with that. I digress.
Books... Yes, how did you know I bought a few? I bought five, but only because they were calling my name! The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. A perspective of the Civil War from both sides. The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane. I haven't read that since college. Anna Karenina and "One Hundred Years of Solitude* which I am starting tonight. I also scored The Stories of Anton Chekhov by Anton Chekhov.

Cool day to spot some nice books thanks for sharing these interesting shots :D
Thank you so much. Always a pleasure to see you at #MarketFriday.
What an interesting shop @dswigle.
No way could I say what my favourite book of all time is. My tastes have changed so much over the years.
'Love You Forever' would be close and 'There's A Monster At The End of this Book'.
Touching the Void.
This Accursed Land.
Eight Feet in the Andes.
The Sea On My Left.
Who's Afraid Of Schroedinger's Cat?
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.
I could go on but these are the ones that first came to mind. 😁
OMGosh! I haven't thought about that book in a while, but Love You Forever makes me cry every time I come to the ending of it and the son is putting the mother to bed at night. Oh! I totally lose it.
Then, of course, one of my parents was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it became a reality, except I didn't get to cry then.
You have a wonderful collection of titles there. I am hard pressed to say what mine is, but, many people know exactly which one is theirs. I have eclectic tastes that change with time. I can go on and on too but, suffice to say, we both like reading. I just finished rereading The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie and have not started a new one today, but, I will later tonight. It is a nice tuck in, so to speak. :)
Thank you so much for stopping by #MarketFriday and I hope you have a most fabulous weekend! ❤️
Tip!
I'm amazed you can get to the end of Love You Forever before you start crying. I don't usually get past the first page! 😂
So sorry to her about your parent. That must be hard to deal with. 😢
Thank you for the tip, as always and I hope you have a most fabulous weekend too! 😍
I usually don't, but, I certainly didn't want to seem like too much of a weinie! :) It will be forever, my favorite. I am so glad you reminded me of that. Thank you!
It is hard to deal with, but, there were moments of true love springled throughout. ❤️

tip!
Thank you so much, my friend! You never disappoint! There is something so cool about secondhand bookstores, giving books another chance at life. I treasure books like people treasure precious gems. The books will always give more back. ;)
Oh, yes! Reflections. You are the master of reflections! But, I do love seeing them. Thanks again for visiting #MarketFriday and dropping the link here. Appreciated!
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Tip!
@dswigle Thanks:) yes it will be a good weekend just had my follow up check for my Stents and all good so thats a good start to the weekend :)
Yes!!! You know I am very happy to hear that! So, all you need to do is keep following the right advice here and stop doing your own thing. That hasn't been working good for you!
Congratulations on a clean bill. That is the best start of the weekend I can think of!
Now, I need some beach pictures!
@dswigle me follow advise, not likely, well I am a little more sensible these days and often to follow advise of Drs at least LOL
Heeey! That is all that you need to do. Well, that and Lola. You know how the little women can be.
I am so happy you are feeling much better.
@dswigle Ohh yes of course i should listen to Lulu that should go without saying
I always listen but not always follow LOL

Good Friday to you, Denise !!!!! you are as usual gorgeous! :) I especially liked the photo with "love" !!!! :) Flowers are wonderful! I felt their scent through your post :) bookstores have always been my favorite stores. your store is very unusual. it really contains the "dust of centuries"! :) I was very fond of reading Stevenson, Jules Verne, Alexandre Dumas, Fenimore Cooper, George Sand, and many others. To date, I rarely go to such stores because all I need is in the computer :)
https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@tali72/413yvl-marketfriday-shop-of-children-s-creativity
Hi, Tali! Happy #MarketFriday! Awww! Thank you! You are so sweet! ❤️ I love that sign. It is on one of the light rail platforms, and I have been waiting to take a picture of it. It is such an appropriate message, isn't it? For life and living.
They really plant beautiful flowers all around here. Everywhere you look, there is another basket hanging. It makes it so pleasant to take a walk. Bookstores are my favorite too. As a matter of fact, I actually wept when Borders closed down. Sigh. Such a wonderful place to spend time and have a nice coffee with my adventures.
Oh, you have wonderful taste in authors. I also have a kindle, but, it doesn't feel the same as a book does between these hands. :) So, what book are you reading now? I just finished rereading The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie and have nothing yet today, but will by the end of the day.
Thank you for visiting, dropping your link and I hope you have a most fabulous weekend!
Tip!
Oh, do you like detectives? !!!! I re-read all the books of Agatha Christie. you're right!!!! the book in hand is not the same as reading from a computer or tablet. I very long got used to read from the monitor. book is a book! I recently reread one of the novels of Dick Francis. I read them all: I liked some more, others less. I like that he writes about horses. I learned a lot about these beautiful animals from his books. I hope your Henry feels great !!! :)
I love detectives!! I re-read all the Agatha Christie ones too! I have gotten used to a kindle but, still rely on my book to bring me that feeling.
Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Stieg Larsson and on and on... I am an eclectic reader and love so many genres.
Which Dick Francis book was that? I would be interested in reading it. And yes! Henry is doing well! I love that boy!
Thank you, my dear! You are such a wonderful soul. ❤️
I have not read Steve Larsson's books yet. I like many books from Francis. For example, "Favorite", "Half head ahead." If you have not read them yet, read it. Maybe you'll like it too.
I loved "Favorite" but did not read "Half head ahead" Now I really will have to look it up. I like Dick Francis also, and thank you for the heads up on the book! Straight is one of my favorites, and I liked Edge.
Oh, yes! The books I love are varied and many.

Love walking into shops like that they should of really called it "Back to the Future Shop" it certainly takes you back in time so scary how far we have gone from there but all so interesting to see how simply things were. Thanks for that tour enjoyed looking at the past and those books love them all have never been much of a book reader but the once i have read or enjoying reading were based on true stories..." The Green Mango " was one book i found very interesting a Bangkok true story.
https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@hangin/marketfriday-initiated-by-dswigle-siam-gourmet-market
None of my brothers were big readers, they would rather create the adventure than read about it. LOL So, yes, I do get it. We have come a long way, baby, that is for sure.
There were nine kids in my family and when I had a piece of quiet, I would curl up with a book and wander off into another world for a moment or three. It was awesome and quite peaceful. To this day, it is a way for me to relax a bit. Either that or I would become a raging alcoholic. :)
True stories can be fascinating mostly because their lives are so bizarre sometimes. I cannot believe they are true! I will have to look up the Green Mango, out of sheer nosiness.
I hope you had a great week as you are into the weekend already and Thank You for stopping by #MarketFriday and dropping the link here! Much appreciated!
Tip!
I was in the same situation i had six other brothers and one sister in our family and we were always creating some adventure to keep us busy no time for books only when i was forced to when i was at school then after school forget about books but i did manager to pick up and read a couple or so books in my later life and wished i had done more often i do remember reading those few books it was such a excitement it would like i was the main character in the story itself :)
Well you have a lovely weekend and thank you for the Tip !!
You too! Enjoy the time off!

Great post Denise! They do have some really interesting decorations! The last place I worked at, had one of those tin style ceilings. You don't see them around much anymore but they are cool looking! ❤ the flowers!! This is my post today and wishing you a beautiful weekend!! https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@deerjay/market-friday-checking-out-sprouts-639a39d4fee98est
Thanks so much, @deerjay! It is one of my favorite places to go to. (Note: I said one of! There are so many!) Living in the area that we do, there is always something to see and something to do, right? I find myself running out of time at the end of the day, wishing it could go for just a little bit longer!
So much to see! So much to do!
The ceilings in Old Town are very neat. I do love the tin ceilings and no many have kept them intact, but, there are more than I bargained for. Thank you so much for the wonderful visit to my #MarketFriday! The flowers say thank you very much! ❤️
Your comments are always thoughtful, positive moments and are greatly appreciated. Happy #MarketFriday! ❤️ ❤️
Tip!
You're very welcome Denise and thank you so much also! You do show us so many wonderful places and I love it!! xoxo
Thank you! I am so glad you enjoy them!! Mwah! ❤️

Love those reflections and that white ceiling as well Denise! I used to frequent an ice cream parlor with a white ceiling like that one. My favorite book series is the Anne of Green Gables series. I have enjoyed it, as have my daughters, and it has been a wonderful connection point with them. ❤ @annac & I did a bit of marketing this past week as well:
https://steemit.com/travel/@denisechips/she-is-the-terror-of-colorado-boulevard
There is something forever cool about reflections. I love how when I move around to take the picture, it can change the picture dramatically. I usually like to stay out of the picture.
I almost never see many of the tin ceilings, but, this town has a fair amount still. They really did keep much of it used and intact. I love them and could picture one in my house, although it is too modern. Maybe my bathroom?? Perhaps, I will just go downtown more often. :)
Oh, yes! We all loved Anne of Green Gables, didn't we? OMG. You weren't properly brought up unless you read that! My girls read and enjoyed it also, along with The Laura Inglalls series. I never thought of it that way, the connection point, but, you are right. Gilmore Girls (a television series) did that also when they were old enough to watch it. It was something we shared and those are the moments we all live for.
Oh! Shopping you say!!! Hello!!!! Wait for me! I am coming with you! As an aside, I want to thank you for dropping the link here. Much appreciated!

Great post and good way to mix a market day, my favorite is the Pepsi box. Have a nice weekend.
Thank you! You are so sweet for dropping by #MarketFriday! ❤️ Everyone likes the Pepsi box and the man had probably 25 of them in the store, holding old books and magazines.
They were pretty cool!
Thanks again and I hope you have a great weekend @sol25!
Tip!
Hey @dswigle! So nice and refreshing to see your #marketfriday post! Always the clever type it seems! Mine is kind of boring today as I was being followed by employees of the store. I think they may have thought I was a mystery shopper. haha
https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@ilsaione/market-friday-an-apple-a-day
That happens! I usually ask permission to take pictures and then there isn't that problem. However, some of the big stores are so much against it. I actually got the okay from Victoria's Secret!
I am sure it is fine and Haha! Mystery Shopper. Isn't that funny! Thank you for putting out a #MarketFriday post and for dropping the link here!
Tip!
I was tempted to try to recruit them to Steemit but something told me they weren't the blogging types.
I don't know! You can just never tell, know what I mean? I am the slowest commenter/blogger around.
I still have all the posts to upvote and resteem (after dinner of course) But, as long as people don't expect an ASAP comment, it's all good! I finished them all on my post so that is great!
Oh, Denise! These kids looked college-aged! I could only imagine what they would blog about and if they took photos of the food from the market, I don't want to know. "Fruits Gone Wild"? haha
Hahaha! I'm sure you are right!

So much nostalgia in that store and town by the looks of the buildings. I love visiting places like that too. Great post D
Thank you so much, my dear! @sunscape The little towns surrounding Washington, DC are very much like this and surprisingly most have kept their buildings intact and use them. They are walkable and so much fun to peruse, have coffee and if you want to see it, check out my #WednesdayWalk post, which is probably the one before this.
I showed off the bookstore there too! Double-dipping! How have you been and how is your husband doing? I was thinking about you the other day, hoping all is well in your world.
