The United States Stock Exchange closed with declines this Friday; The setbacks in the oil and gas, technology and basic materials sectors push the indexes lower.
At the close in New York, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.07%, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.16%, and the NASDAQ Composite lost 0.52%.
The best value of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average was Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD), up 1.71% or 3.47 points to 205.82 at the close. Followed by Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), which advanced 1.16%, 0.67 points, to close at 58.29, and UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH), which rose 0.62%, 1 , 51 points, until dismissing the session at 245.39.
The worst results were achieved by Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW), which fell 3.29% or 1.74 points to trade at 51.14 at the close. Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO), on the other hand, cut 2.53%, 1.42 points, and closed at 54.75, while 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) lost 1.30%, 2.19 points, ending at 166.66.
At the top of the S&P500 we see Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), which rose 2.17% to 181.33; Sales Inc (NYSE:VTR), up 2.03%, closing at 66.76, and CF Industries Holdings Inc (NYSE:CF), which gained 1.91%, ending at 46.00.
The red lantern of the index was Signet Jewelers Ltd (NYSE:SIG), which fell 5.96% to 17.98 at the end of the session. He was accompanied at the bottom of the table by F5 Networks Inc (NASDAQ:FFIV), with a decline of 5.65%, which was fired at 136.93, as well as Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO), which subtracted a 5.57% to say goodbye at 265.93 at the end of the session.
At the head of the NASDAQ Composite we see SSLJ.com Ltd (NASDAQ:YGTY), which rose 32.80% to 3.3200; ArQule Inc (NASDAQ:ARQL), with a rise of 30.37%, thus closing at 8.200, and Puyi Inc ADR (NASDAQ:PUYI), which scored 26.07%, ending at 7.98.
The red lantern of the index was Sellas Life Sciences Group Inc (NASDAQ:SLS), which fell 57.49% to 0.1600 at the end of the session. He was accompanied on the lower end of the table by Novus Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:NVUS), with a decline of 19.85%, which was dismissed at 1.0500, as well as Seres Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRB), which subtracted a 19.43% to say goodbye at 2.28 at the end of the session.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1813 to 1180, and 32 ended unchanged. In the Nasdaq market, 1695 fell and 967 advanced, while 81 ended unchanged.
Shares of Signet Jewelers Ltd (NYSE:SIG) fell to their lowest level, falling 5.96% or 1.14 to settle at 17.98. Shares of Sales Inc (NYSE:VTR) rose to reach its 52-week high, advancing 2.03% to 1.33 to settle at 66.76. The shares of Sellas Life Sciences Group Inc (NASDAQ:SLS) fell to its historical low, falling 57.49%, 0.2164, to settle at 0.1600. The shares of ArQule Inc (NASDAQ:ARQL) rose to its maximum, advancing 30.37%, 1,910, to settle at 8,200. The shares of Novus Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:NVUS) fell to its historical low, falling by 19.85%, 0.2600, to stand at 1.0500. The shares of Puyi Inc ADR (NASDAQ:PUYI) rose to reach its historic high, rising by 26.07%, 1.65, to settle at 7.98. The shares of Seres Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:MCRB) fell to its historical low, falling 19.43%, 0.55, to settle at 2.28.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the volatility of the S&P 500 options, fell 3.41% to 15.28.
Gold futures for August delivery rose 0.12%, 1.65, to $ 1,345.35 a troy ounce. As for the other raw materials, crude oil futures for July delivery rose 0.46%, 0.24, to stay at $ 52.52 a barrel, while brent oil futures for August delivery rose a 1.21%, 0.74, up to $ 62.05 a barrel.
The EUR/USD fell by 0.59%, to stand at 1.1209, while the USD/JPY, meanwhile, advanced 0.17% to 108.56.
The dollar index rose 0.56% to 97,540.
