Land and air pollution has proven to be harmful to marine life and its habitats.The pollution offen comes from non-point
sources such as agricultural runoff,wind-blowing debris and dust.Many potentially toxic chemicals adhere to tiny particles.mining of materials in the sea is a factor that contaminates the seas,materials like gold and copper.copper is a source of pollutant in the sea.Many ocean pollutants are released into the environment far upstream from coastlines.

Types Of Marine Pollution

Humans are obviously affected by pollution, as seen by disease like asthma or cancer,but animals are victim to its effects too.Both direct and indirect pollution affect wildlife.Toxic substances that get washed upstream destroy valuable drinking water.Here are some of the marine pollution;

sewage

Sewage contains chemicals that alter the marine environment, causing some marine life to die and other marine life to flourish.Sewage can also deprive marine environments of oxygen, killing off entire populations in affected areas.As the world population continues to grow beyond the capacity of available sewage treatment facilities,the sewage problem will only get worse.Sewage also introduces harmful bacteria and other other microorganisms that spread water-borne disease such as cholera,typhoid fever and salmonellosis,into the water bodies.

oil spills are probably the most well-known type of marine pollution in the sea.Oil spills affect wildlife in oceans instantly, with a very large death toll. The oil that is split rises to the surface of the water and is spread out by the water currents and oceanic winds.And oil spills can be spread in large distances.finally,Oil spills often result in both immediate and long-term environmental damage.
