AmazonGo is well known. The online retailer is entering the physical market with, potentially, 3,000 stores by 2021. These stores do not include any checkout personnel. Everything is done autonomously.
Many are projecting this could change the face of retail along with the job market. Eliminating cashier jobs will affect millions of lower income families. It also strikes at the heart of teenagers who often break into the workforce in that manner.
Now we have a company designing a system that is intended to eliminate the cashier position from all retail establishments in the next 5-10 years.
Part of our view at Manna is that this will only get worse at time goes by. Technology is not going to reverse course. From our perspective, while there will be jobs created, the pace of the new automation will eliminate more over the next decade.
Our goal is to be one of the solutions that steps in to help offset the pain caused by this. By providing everyone who signs up with some coins, we hope that, over time, they have a bit of a buffer against any job destruction.

indeed it is unfortunate that these jobs are being lost but hopefully it will mean people have to strive higher.
Why is 'manna' against automation? Why is anyone against 'automation'?
Automation is clearly the path we are taking a human species... and if you can't beat it, then join it and make the best of it.
There are clearly ways that we can integrate this automation with our lives that will benefit humanity.
Why are you all scared about 'losing jobs'. Instead how about we learn about these new emerging technologies and figure out a way to CREATE BETTER LIVING CONDITIONS, and stop focusing on 'jobs'.
It's time our generation [millenials] start focusing on how humanity can live a clean, sustainable lifestyle. Jobs don't have to be present for this to happen. Somehow we can find a way that allows us all to work towards something greater. Maybe it is universal basic income, maybe it's not, but please, quit wasting your fucking time by throwing negative shit towards automation. It will not do anyone any good by throwing negative shit around.
instead
FOCUS on how we can CREATE new ways of WORK with EXISTING & EMERGING technologies.
Hopefully this post inspires you, the author of this post. to consider what you are writing about and how you can write about it in a way that will inspire change and positive action as opposed to writing explicitly about how it's taking jobs away from people.
Think smarter, write more efficiently. Advice from me to you.
Best wishes ~
well all good and fancy and all, but the customer should be paid for the amount of information he is giving to amazon. will amazon provide that? of course not...
