Welcome to the third Make a Minnow contest!
This initiative is about finding a deserving minnow who has a strong and positive influence in the PAL/MSP community and giving them a delegation prize as a reward for their efforts! Giving our minnows the opportunity to have increased curation influence benefits the entire Steemit ecosystem and should be considered a great honour.
Our first two winners were @isaria and @crimsonclad who are both highly deserving of this award and now we need to find another deserving recipient!
The rules and guidelines have changed somewhat as this project is still evolving, if you would like to participate, here are the details:
Make A Minnow Rules, Roles and Procedures
Structure
We intend to run two Make a Minnow (MaM) Contests per month.
The winner of each Contest is awarded a 5000SP delegation for 4 weeks.
Each Contest is held in two rounds: The Nomination Round and the Voting Round.
All Contest posts are made from the @msp-makeaminnow account and resteemed by @minnowsupport on Steemit.
Each Contest will have three posts as detailed below.
The First post announces a new MaM Contest and its rules. The post also signifies the start of the Nomination Round. Nominations from eligible voters (eligibility conditions described below) are made as comments on this post. This nomination has to state the name of the nominee to be deemed valid. Nominations may also include a link to a post in support of the nomination. Eligible voters have one week to complete this step.
Nominee Selection for the Voting Round. A nominee requires at least two valid nominations to go into the Voting Round. The top three nominees, by count of valid nominations, go into the Voting Round. In the event of a tie, more than three nominees may go into the Voting Round.
The Second post announces the start of the Voting Round and lists the nominees that have been selected. Eligible voters that nominated during the Nomination Round have one week to comment on the second post with their vote from the list of selected nominees.
Winner Selection, the winner is the nominee who receives the most valid votes in the Voting round. There is a single winner: in the event of a tie, a dice roll will take place on the MSP discord to determine the winner. This will be done by the MaM organizer with at least two moderators as witnesses.
The Third post announces the MaM Contest winner and signifies the end of the Contest. Post rewards will be set to 100% power up. We intend to grow MaM’s ability to offer more prizes and to reduce our reliance upon sponsors.
Who is an Eligible Voter?
Anyone who is a registered member of the MSP Discord and who also delegates any amount to msp bots is an eligible voter.
An eligible voter can:
- Nominate in the Nomination Round
- Vote in the Voting Round if they also nominated in the previous post.
Who is Eligible for Nomination?
Any MSP registered member who has less than 10000 SP. The spirit of this award is to help a minnow who exemplifies the values of the PAL/MSP network and contributes to the community in a positive way.
The following accounts are not eligible for nomination:
- Previous MaM winners
- MSP Moderators and MSP Witnesses
- MaM Contest Organizer/s
- Yourself
Responsibilities of the MaM Contest Organizer/s
The MaM Contest is administered by the Organizer who is responsible for all duties associated with running the contest, including:
- Making contest posts, overseeing the tally of results, ensuring prizes are awarded.
- Dealing with post rewards in accordance with the MaM rules.
- The present Organizers are @SammoSK and @juliakponsford.
Special conditions for MaM3
The following special conditions are in effect for MaM3 only. These conditions take precedence over the general MaM Rules:
MaM2 nomination posts may be recycled into the MaM3 nomination round
- All previous pledges are forgiven
- We are not asking for any donations or pledges. The prizes are covered by our generous sponsor @eturnerx.

This has so much potential. I'm really excited!!!
I've found in my own delegations and the ones that have happened already there is a sense of appreciation, connection, self-worth and happiness that comes with high award competitive awards. I think if we work collectively to stay transparent and execute well this has the potential to be one of if not the single highest award for minnows going.
So, stoked and I can't wait to find out where it goes.

I would like to nominate @goldenarms, he had the wonderful idea to start the teamcanada community, which is a new an exciting MSP community. He is very active and helpful on discord and always promoting the community and giving back. Even before he found MSP he was always sending SBD donations to everyone he could since he didn't feel his vote was powerful enough to help others grow.

I nominate @creativesoul. She has been a member of MSP pretty much since the beginning, she made the initiative to start our quiet room to give introverted members a place to connect, she helps with minnowsupport curation, and she does a weekly Creative Curation post to help promote artists.
I nominate @spaingaroo for his dedication in the community and in individuals. And also for his creativity, I smile when I see his artistic work. He pust in a lot of work in his blog posts and for that I think he is a role model for others to follow.
I nominate @wandrnrose7 because she is so sweet and kind and consistently writes good content that I think often gets overlooked and undervalued!

I really like the sound of the new rules.
I think that doing this nomination thing is probably the trickiest part of this all, as I am keen to not just try and give a prize to one of my friends just for being my friends.
But at the same time I would not be at all honest if I neglected to nominate a friend of mine just cause he was.
Also I am saved by the mod rule, in that narrows the field a bit.
And I refrain also from nominating the dingo, as a perverse punishment for nominating me back in round two.
lol
One more thing, there have been two winners from the superior sex, so it's time for one our outies to get a go.
Hard as it is to say just one name, I am going to do so, I nominate @inquiringtimes simply because he is the most dedicated of us at trying to form an enormous network and his focus has been outside himself right from the start.
And he is sure to be a mod soon too, so will become unelectable.

I really thought of putting up a nomination post but i have recently been engaged with other assignments (very Steemit!) that I barely have time to put together a blog post.
I draw a lot of conclusions from personal experiences, so you will forgive my bias for thinking a minnow who supported me with their limited resources will support a lot more other minnows if equiped with bigger means and resources. That was my rationale for choosing @crimsonclad as my nomination for the last round. That is why I will nominate Daniel Pendergrass @d-pend for this round of MaM.
Apart from his consistency in delivering excellent content that is far worth more than the value it accrues -- which is motivating on its own -- Daniel understands what minnows need in the form of a boost. Once I was both excited and surprised I had a vote weight slider. I didn't understand how, as I still had only 50 SP of my own, and was very fresh. @sammosk told me it meant someone had delegated me some sp and directed how I can check who did. Behold it was from that man Pendergrass. I reached to say thank you and he said he trusted I'll put it to good use. That act played a part in motivating me to keep giving back to this community. That was an exciting 4 weeks of my Steemit experience.
I believe this guy will serve the community in even more amazing ways if he got an extra 5k delegation.

since sammo has kicked by butt into gear, and i greatly agree with spaingaroo in this, i nominate @InquiringTimes, as he has been a constant source of patience, generosity of spirit, and inspiration.
I would love to nominiate @misterakpan for this round. Even though he is busy, he is commenting and interacting on the chain a great deal. I think a LOT of minnows would benefit from him having a delegation!

I will nominate @creativesoul. She was one of the first people I met here, and is my oldest friend on steemit. I have felt blessed to grow alongside her and feel amazement at how far we've come in such a short time. She is a kind hearted person, a talented artist, and a lover of this community.
Love this project!! Just another way that MSP sets itself apart from other organizations. The sense of giving to one another is inspiring!
I don't know if this is the place for suggestions, but I will put one here anyway.
With the recent escalation of several valuable minnows into MOD roles, I'd suggest that Minnow Mods be eligible for one of the two prizes each month.
For the record, if they had not been excluded, I was going to make this comment but ask that they be excluded once per month, soo... Just had to change the wording a bit. :-)
My nomination is pretty open at the moment, going to have to put some thought into this one... :-)
There will be something separate to reward the moderators. Listen out in the next few days.
