“Eternity’s Breath” (Parts 1 & 2) which opens the 1975 album Visions of the Emerald Beyond by Mahavishnu Orchestra is the greatest piece of devotional music that I know. A remarkable blend of the spiritual path that Mahavishnu John McLaughlin was following at the time under Shri Chimnoy and John Coltrane (which is clear in th “O Love Supreme” refrain). The riffing that John McLaughlin lets rip at 1’52” In Part 2 is, to me, the most sublime moment in a transcendent performance. Come to that, the entire album is still fantastic, 44 years on. https://open.spotify.com/album/7J0OL2Ai73lJZu06coM0Oo?si=fXPgg_htQv6HMGy3kRiXaw

I am a big fan of this band. Spent many nights at uni listening to the LP I bought from a independent record shop in Leicester :)
