Never gamble more than you can afford to lose!
Was a lesson taught to me by my late stepfather. And with this in mind I sat down to play magic dice last night, to earn some magic tokens, what ever they are.
277 steem down the drain later, I hope someone gets to win that back, and I was down to nil steem in my wallet, and minus also over 2 sbd.
My take on the game is from last nights experience, and not based on their code, or their information they provide regarding odds of winning or house advantage.
I was going along nicely with 5 steem bets at under 95, leaving the house little chance to win, though with only small gains for me, 5 steem gets a winning return of 5.2 something. You only have to lose once for it to take a long time to get the 5 back. I did note some familiar names there as it shows who has won or lost last. Most seemed to be going the 50 50 route too.
I am not writing this from any emotional viewpoint as when I sat down I was well prepared to lose, as I would also accept a win.
It seemed that the average was a winning run of 7 - 9 rolls as I jotted down the results. Then when I lost I would up the stakes, expecting a win, that though seemed less likely, the more I wagered. Wagering above 15 seemed to yield very poor returns, and more losses than wins, hence me being 277 steem down today.
If they are selling shares in this venture I feel I would most certainly buy in lol.
That is my first gamble of the year and one that most definitely did not pay off. I may buy some more steem today, I though will not be returning to play that game ever again.
My take on this gamble is like going to watch a very bad football game for my own team, and getting a good hiding whilst paying for it. It/both only leave you feeling down the day after, the football downer though can last all week.
@shepz1 takes the beating, accepts the result and moves along to make some lunch!......

I can't agree with you more.
Thanks for your sharing.
Most welcome. :-)
Lemmy had it right when he sang.
You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools
But that's the way I like it baby
I don't wanna live for ever
:0)
never gamble. play poker! lol
I love a bit of poker!
It's helped keep me out of starvation this last year!
I actually don't like it (too much), but I can grind some money out of it...
Normally stakes up to 10 dollars a game, (99% of my strategy is SnG's)
Destined to grind, and not win big...
Lots of mini grinds then, I like it because I play it with my friends and we all get mad drunk :0)
...drunken poker with mates, is great fun !
I tried to get on this site where they use crypto.... (luckysaks, but they wont accpet my application - I'm not real, or something!)
Definitely not real!
shiiiiiiiiiiitttt , I don't exist....
Lol and those lyrics ring oh so profoundly true today. :-)
Hehe, I bet
Hi shepz.Steem is hard enough to earn without tossing it away.I won't be rolling the dice anytime soon. Thanks for the heads up.Sorry about the loss and your tactics seemed so right.Live and learn I suppose.
Cheers my friend, and no worries on the steem front, easy come easy go and all that.
Yes I played some Magic dice in the last day trying not to lose to much and gaining some magic tokens. I also delegated some SP to collect some more tokens. They are going to pay out a % of there profit's from February i think to people that have the magic tokens. And the tokens should be worth something when/if we ever get the SMT protocol released. I am just spreading my eggs around so they are not all in the one basket so to say. Will see what happens :) And I don't think I will play it anymore now as the token rewards are halved again. Was 100 tokens when i started for every 1 steem bet now down 50 and soon will be at 25.

I see your point, and I think I now have a lot of them magic tokens, so here is hoping one day they will be worth something, to offset last nights loss. :-)
Yes that is the idea I am hoping for. I just had a look and there is someone playing now betting 600 steem at a time seems to be playing at 50/50 wins double and loses some they will be raking in the tokens.

No idea why I played it to be honest. £55.40. :P
My mom was a gamble-alcoholic, my step dad and her gambled away his retirement fund after the opening of casino's here on Indian reservations. I was always curious what the draw was about it, one year she invited me to go up and visit my aunt on Thanksgiving, she said she'd take me over to the casino and give me a thirty dollar head start. Every machine I got on it would go up close to a hundred then start coming back down, I'd always exit the machine right before the loss would drop below thirty then go try another. To be honest I really didn't see the intrigue in watching pictures of fruits whirl around in circles then come to a halt. I didn't lose her thirty bucks though, on the way out the door she said no keep it, you earned it by not losing it. I told her no you loaned it to me and now I am giving it back. On the way out to the car I thought to myself I guess it's to bad she didn't use the same analogy when she was playing they'd still be several hundred thousand dollars ahead in life.
I had a friend that was addicted to it too. He would put £200 - £300 in them fruit machines with a £10 payout.
We had a spell of going to casinos also, I walked out a winner 9 times out of 10, sometimes winning big, I could never celebrate in front of Phil though, as I never watched him walk away a winner even once. One time we had been there 5 minutes and he was £200 up, I said cash in and lets have a free day of drinking and fun, he refused and walked out £400 down, money he did not have to lose, it was credit card money. 20 years later and he is drowning in debt and even had to sell his half of his own home to his wife to try to get straight, I dare say that money has gone the same way! Some people just never learn you see.
I don't like gambling and I never gamble. Must have been painful to loose, I'm really sorry.
I am over it now, it did feel bad for a day, thanks for the kind words.
