Hello @jin-out! This is @traciyork from the @ocd (Original Content Decentralized) curation team. We noticed you shared your first post here on Hive and introduced yourself to the community - congratulations and welcome! You didn't mention how you happened to find our blockchain home - did an established Hive member tell you about it? If so, you should tag them so they know you're part of the Hive community now!
Speaking of community, we have many different ones here on the blockchain, devoted to all kinds of interests. Here's a link so you can check them all out - Hive Communities
Also, as Hive can sometimes be quite confusing, the newly launched Newbies Guide is a growing repository of useful and easy to understand posts about how the Hive ecosystem works.
In addition, since you're new, you may run into an RC (Resource Credits) error when trying to comment/post because you don't yet have enough Hive in your account yet. For assistance with a temporary delegation to get you started, be sure to check out the Gift Giver site.
If you have questions, feel free to hop into the OCD Discord server and we'll do our best to answer them, and again welcome to Hive!
Actually, one last thing - your post seems to be taken from the about section of your now deleted YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/JinLee/about). Do you have any other social media profiles at the moment? If so, please mention Hive somewhere in a post, bio, or even as a reply, then drop a link back here so that the community knows this is really you and not someone else trying to profit off your awesome content.
Thanks a lot there!
Wow you did your homework. I will make sure my other communities know about my hive journey. Thanks!
Yeah, one of the cool things about Hive is that your content is monetized. One of the not-so-cool things about Hive is how many people want to earn by taking other people's content. That's one of the reasons we have a team of people taking a peek at new people/posts, to help guide them in the right direction (and lower the hammer of doom when necessary... 😉 😂).
And it's not so much we want you to tell other platforms about Hive - it's more we want to confirm that the content you're sharing is yours. So for example, if you have a Twitter/Facebook/Instagram that's older than your Hive account, just do something there to show it's you, like tweet out the link to this post (or your next) and tag me either here or on Twitter. Easy peasy. 😊
And by the way, sharing your stuff on Twitter can also help your content be seen by Hive curators... hint hint 😁
I know it's a lot to wrap your brain around, so please feel free to continue to ask questions. Hope you're having a great weekend!
Thanks a lot lass! Btw, is it possible to filter my feed as i explore HIVE just like on reddit, by geographical location?
You're entirely welcome, good sir!
And sadly no, not at the moment. I seem to recall some time ago there was discussion about having a reddit-like front end (and people could opt in with their location) but nothing like that is available at the moment.
You could "filter" by following certain geographical communities (like the London community, which you can see isn't exactly hopping right now) or tags (like #teamuk). I know @steevc also has something called The Brit List which he updates regularly. But if I hear of anything, I'll be sure to shout out!
Thanks again for the heads up!
Btw, is HIVE/Peakd mainly a blogging platform? There seems to be more written content blog style here than anything else. Is blogging the way to go here?
