A trip to Jaddih Limestone Mine at Madura, Indonesia

in #madura7 years ago

Madura is located near Surabaya (Indonesia), northeast of Java. To get there, one can drive through the famous Suramadu bridge ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suramadu_Bridge) that connect Surabaya and Madura.

I saw photos of people taking pictures at this location and make it one of my bucket list.
I am happy that i finally able to visit this site.
The mine is stll active but somehow it is now end up as a tourist hotspot because of the breathtaking view it produces.
The site is very dry and hot. We drove there at about 8 AM and walking around, making some pictures until almost noon.

I will encourage to bring at least a cap and bottles of water when you plan to spend some time over there because of the climate.

It worths to visit at least once in your lifetime. But beware of the high entrance cost . I also read that it is not that safe to be around that area when it is dark.

There are another limestone mines in Madura called Arosbaya and Jambuh, but it is not as grand as the Jaddih mine because the area is not as white as the Jaddih Mine.

Here is more information about Madura island:
