This time I will discuss about the granules or any object found in the clay soil.

The land that I do research here is the clay land located on the soil of Aceh, which is generally landed clay.

Sieve analysis is done to determine grain size and grain arrangement of soil (gradation). The equipment used is a filter set according to ASTM standard. The purpose of this examination is to determine the grain size distribution of a soil sample. The test steps are as follows:

  1. The sieve is weighed and recorded the empty weight of each.
  2. Samples of ± 500 grams dried in oven with temperature
    (110 ± 5) ◦C, to a fixed weight.
  3. The test specimen is filtered through a filter arrangement with the largest sieve size
    placed at the top. Then the filter is shaken with machine tool
    the user for 15 minutes.
  4. Each filter is weighed and recorded by weight of its contents.
    For the results of data analysis is the percentage of the weight of the specimen suspended above
    each filter against the total weight of the specimen.
