The first and last photo is the same plant. This one is ready for a big pot to let the roots grow more. We have had it for 9 months.
This one is a very new guy for us but you can see the new growth. If you want to grow just cut the top off and let it sit in water for a month. Remember don't put plant in water your trying to rot the pineapple. At about a month cut the bottle in a Square without hitting the core.
Here is an example of what it should look like before Roots begin to grow. Use mason jars old salsa jars any kind of jars and just let it sit in the Sun. Change the water every 2 to 3 weeks.
This is the root system of picture 1 this one is ready to go in a good size pot and in about a year we will produce her first pineapple. I highly recommend a good root system before you drop it in a pot. This pineapple is only about a foot and a half wide now but once put in the pot it will get up to three and a half feet wide some 4 feet wide so you need plenty of room. But after the two-year wait you will get to enjoy your very own homegrown pineapple.
Have you ever try growing avocados? I am obsessed with them and want to try growing them at home.
Yes and you can. But no fruit will produce in Arkansas climate. instead you get a beautiful small tree. I have a friend that has a fully grown avocado tree topping out around 8 ft. It is the same concept the seed will begin to split it has to stay very moist and you'll watch the plant begin to grow.
Love this! Our kiddos grew a pineapple plant from a pineapple we ate for a homeschool project. The plant got so large we had to transplant it into our landscape... we live in Florida. Loved the post!
