In my country people joke about everything and sure valentine was not left out. The concept of valentine in this country is very different from what valentine really is. Here it means the day to show love to a boyfriend or girlfriend. A day to make love and I can confidently say 95% of Nigerians celebrated this way. As for me I don't view life same way others do, my way of valentine and what I did was distinct from what others did. I wish I had the strength, I wanted to visit those who had no home and the orphanage home but I lacked the resources to do that. So I visited an old man who lived near our students village. So spoke with him for some hours. This is what we spoke about
Me: Happy valentine sir, I have come to spend time with you, how are you
Him. Wow welcome, I am old and don't celebrate kids kind of things.
Me: Valentine is meant for everyone not just young people
Him: okay thank you and I appreciate you for coming. After some time he I decided to leave him and go back to my room. I could feel the joy I brought to him. He couldn't believe it that I came to spend this much time with him.
At the end of the day my roommate prepared goat head and we ate and we're happy. It is painful that sex for the only gift of valentine for some people. By the way if you didn't get a valentine present don't be angry or feel you are not loved. Your love is on the way.
