Welcome to our new home everyone! Brian and I both feel like we hit the jackpot with this one :)
Here's the view from the street. The owner of this place is an artist, among so many other things, so all of the tile and wrought iron work is his alone :)
Jorge (George) our landlord, lives on the second floor and is simply amazing. That's our place at the top with the palapa covering (thatched roof). Very authentic Mexico :) He actually let us move in without a contract while he was away in Mexico City. It's so very different from our old place, but that is for another post! This one is going to be 100% positive :)
For years now, while on holidays, Brian and I have walked by this mosaic tile dolphin mural, and have been in awe of its' beauty; it's so serendipitous that this is now where we call "home" !
There's very little plain cement anywhere. Everything is a mosaic; broken tile designs 'pushed' into the wet cement ... it really is beautiful! I also found out that #5 (Roman numeral V) is George's lucky number, so it's placed just about everywhere. Do you see it?
Not long ago I wrote a post about a cenote Brian and I went to, and we both loved it so much. Well, just inside the front gate is this spectacular pool, and guess what?? Its water source is a cenote, an underground fresh water spring!!! In fact, all of the water pumped into the property is from the cenote. How cool is that??!
At the top of the stairs is the entrance to our private patio and studio apartment. This patio is about 50 feet x 35 feet OR 15 meters x 10 meters!! It's huge! Here it is upon arrival,
and after we made it a bit more comfortable. Notice there's two hammocks as well :)
To the right is a laundry room and clothesline that I'm so happy to have! We both love the smell of clothes and especially sheets dried outside!
This is my new steemit workplace ... this is the reason for my absence haha It's so very difficult to stay focused out here!
Here's a closeup of our jellyfish wind-chime, made of a coconut exterior and shells, but look in the distance! We have a view of the ocean and of the Island of Cozumel. I told you!! Jackpot :) And all of this costs less than our last apartment!!
Our first night here, before the comfy chairs, but regardless, it was so relaxing sitting out there!
This is the view we wake up to. Brian and I both say that we have this feeling of being perpetually on holidays; we are both soooo relaxed and very very happy. In fact, the kids used to joke that they wanted to see Mexico Brian when we would return from holidays and went back to work in Vancouver. Now my love says, "Mexico Brian is back and he's here to stay !! "
Even Buddy doesn't know where to go first! He sleeps like a baby at night too ... no more bugging us; he's literally wiped out after his days of exploring :)
I took this picture of him this morning, when I stepped outside and left him inside haha He's giving me that cat-look of shock and disgust that I'd even consider going outside without him haha
Oh!! I almost forgot. We have dogs!!! Ramona is the Boxer and Bandaleros is the ... rescue street dog haha We even have a landlord who loves his dogs and takes very very good care of them ... a bit of a rarity here :) I fed them bits of steak the first night we were here, so guess who's their best buddy? haha
After our scooter accident where we got cut off by a drunk taxi driver the other day, I feel like Ramona right now, so I am going to read an actual book with Brian in my comfy orange chair. Oh yeah, the taxi driver had his wife and baby (on her lap!) in the front seat! Crazy! If you didn't read the post, rest assured, we are fine, just a little bruised and sore. Thanks to so many of you for the thoughts and well wishes too!!
Brian and I feel unbelievably fortunate not only to have not been seriously hurt the other day, but to have finally found a place that feels like home, and to have a landlord that seems to be worth his weight in gold. After owning our own places for years, it's weird to be renting again, but George really does live by the adage, mi casa es tu casa, or my house is your house. I'm especially ecstatic that Brian is happy and relaxed here!
Hasta luego folks, that empty chair is calling my name :)

Wow! Wow! Wow! That is an awesome home! The dolphin mural is really beautiful! And you have an amazing view!

Thank you so much @elizacheng :) We are both still in the "Wow! Wow! Wow!" stage ourselves haha
I appreciate you stopping by!
@lynncoyle1 👍😀
Dang! What a nice looking place. :) Congrats!
Thank you so much @apolymask!! We really did luck out on this one :) And hey, if you ever make your way here for a holiday, there's even a studio for rent for vacationers on the main floor ;)
Congrats on your wonderful residence score! Enjoy your hamaca time! 😎
Thank you @novacadian!! Haha I've got Adam Sandler going through my head now :)
That is a very photogenic place and it looks like luxury digs, too! Got to get maximum enjoyment out of the giant patio.
Glad y'all didn't get too banged up in the smashup. That was a very close call!
Thank you @willymac! The apartment itself is pretty small, but the outside space really makes up for it :)
The smashup was terrifying for me; it's something I never want to repeat!! I actually decided to respond to these happier comments first, before heading over to "that" post!
Thank you!
You have a new home that looks so restful to your body and soul! Surrounded by open space, color and serenity, you are going to be happy there. Finding the new place was Karma!
You're so right @willymac! Good things do eventually come to those who wait :) This afternoon we were sitting outside, reading (actual books ;), having a drink, and Brian said, "I could live here til the day I die". So, there it is :)
Hope all is well with you!
Tell Brian that being in the place where you are content is the ultimate reward for a having a good life and it is the place where time can stand still for an eternity today.
I love my Kindle but nothing will ever replace the feel of holding a real book while I disappear into its world. Kindle books just slide by; you can go into a real book.
And that makes all well with me. And you too, I suspect.
Brian said he feels the same way and completely agrees!
We both have a Kobo and love it too; the ability to bring our library with us from Canada, slipped in a backpack is wonderful, but feeling the pages of an actual book ... well, you said it best,
And you suspect correctly :)
Thanks, Lynn. That gives me warm fuzzies for you and Brian.
Have an afternoon of tropical paradise!
Thanks for the update! I started reading it and then got distracted by a squirrel or some nonsense. Hence the late comment.
Your new place looks amazing!!! You have a view of the ocean, and you live in the tree tops. That's so cool. I like that you're higher up, so it really is like you're in a tree fort. How cool that you have a pool as well! And for less money, that's great!
I'm glad to see you're decking it out with your own stuff to make it home. It looks like a very comfy space. I hope you're both able to rest and recover there.
Thank you so much!! We were commenting today how relaxed we both are here, while reading an actual book "up in the tree tops". Sometimes the stars really do align and things work out perfectly :)
I'm glad you're both liking it. You've been through so much, you deserve a break and a place to relax.
Thank you! You know something? I haven't been doing as much 'steemit' the last few days, and I think you just explained why to me . I just feel like doing whatever I want, and yes, I think Brian and I both deserve that.
This Catholic guilt I was raised with occasionally rears its' ugly head haha Thanks for the perspective :)
I hope you and yours are having a great weekend! I'm assuming it's starting to feel like Fall there?
I think you should do whatever you want! Embrace it. If you want to get on Steemit and curate or run a contest or whatever, go for it. If you don't want to, then don't. If you want to spend all your time salsa dancing on the rooftop whatever-you-call-it, then do that! (It's more likely to be swimming, I know.)
Yeah, the guilt can get you. I'm glad I accidentally provided perspective.
Yes, it's starting to feel like fall. I'd like to live in a place where it's sunny and 75 every day. That seems really nice. For now though, as long as I live in most of the continental US, there are going to be more seasons than that, and that includes winter. :( Oh, well. Then comes spring!
What?! How did you find a place like that? It seems like the perfect home:))
Right place at the right time I think! Brian happened to be walking to the store not long ago, and the owner here was backing out of the driveway, so good ol' Brian stopped him and asked if he rented any of it out haha He had been doing B&B's but just stopped because there was so much nonsense involved, so he just said 'sure'! I still can't believe it :) Thank you @tripswithtam :)
I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes, but I just went to your blog and you haven't been posting lately. Hope everything is ok! <3
Looks amazing. Dream place. Loved the cat and dogs :)
Enjoy.
Thank you so much @hlezama! We're so happy here, but I think it will be a while until the cat and dogs are friends ... they "accidentally" met the other day, and none of them were too happy about it all haha
Hahaha. I can imagine. Been there. Unless those suckers are introduced to each other early in their lives, they can be very annoying in their "negotiating" spaces.
hahaha "negotiating" spaces ... that's a great way to put it. My cat was laying on a stair, eyeballing the dogs while they were going insane because they had no way to reach him... and my cat knew it!! With that "cat" look they give, so superior! I was killing myself laughing!
Hahaha. That's hilarious. They do that. I think it's great that we have these creatures around us. They give a lot without even knowing.
Bienvenidos a casa! Looks awesome, huge congrats!!!
Thank you so much @eoj!! Nice Español too :)
Gracias!
De nada :)
What a great news! It looks like a perfect place for you two! I'm happy you feel at home and yes, Brian looks SO happy on the last photo! Congratulations Lynn and I wish you amazing time there!
awww thank you @delishtreats ... I can hear your genuine enthusiasm from here :) It really is great news!!
What a wonderful home @lynncoyle1. I'm glad to see you're both so happy there already. What a great outside space and view. 😊
I'm still curious to hear about why you moved. 😂
Have a wonderful relaxing day and rest your bruises. 💙
Thank you @gillianpearce! Here's the short version: our old landlord was crazy haha She would set the building alarm by 11pm and turn it off some mornings not until 9am. If we were out, we'd need to phone home to get let in, if you can believe it! Also, the pool never worked and it was so tiny, more of a hot tub really, but they had no idea what they were doing. It often appeared to be a roof top swamp! And she was just in our business constantly...texting for no reason, checking in ... it was really annoying. Oh yeah, and it was broken into twice, Brian's bike was stolen, which they didn't want to replace and I just heard the other night there was an electrical fire there. The owner (the landlord's aunt) is so cheap that everything was done on the cheap as well ... including the electrical work apparently :)
I'm glad you're well out of it then @lynncoyle1. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. 😁
It doesn't sound like a home at all.
So happy you've landed where you are now. A good landlord makes all the difference in the world.
Much love 💙 (by way of a change). 😂
Thank you @gillianpearce! We were reading out on the patio today and Brian said he could be here forever :)
Just as sweet! We'll take that too :)
That all sounds very positive. Long may it continue! 😊 💙
Oh man that place is georgeous wow! I can totally imagine you feel at home there. And how great to have a nice landlord .. cool that the pool is filled with water from a cenote .. I hope you'll enjoy every single day there, but I bet you will! ♡ you both deserve that!
Thank you so much @anouk.nox! Everyday we wake up and realize where we're at and both say how amazed we still are over it all :) And yes, the nice landlord makes a huge difference, as you know. We mentioned that the bathroom sink tap was leaking and he had a new one installed that very same day!
What a beautiful new abode! Awesome you guys ❤🎈❤ congratulations! Welcome back after your time away moving. I hope you feel better fast! And, that your bruised face & goose egg don't give you too much grief! Sheesh! Enjoy your rest! Hope to cross paths again soon😊
Thank you @yogajill! It was a nice reprieve from steemit but I didn't anticipate the pain with it all haha We are settled in just fine now, and less sore everyday, but even a little accident like that puts a few things back in perspective ... not that ours was too out of whack, but you know what I mean :)
Thank you for the kind words about the new abode ... we really do love it :)
Congratulations on the new house, twin dolphins on the entry way, a prelude of things to come for you. It looks like a few people relaxing and enjoying and waiting on your company. I bet the pooches just love having you guys there, who doesn't like a good steak bite every now and then.
awww thank you @bashadow! Actually today, I went for a swim and then relaxed on one of the loungers to read. The next thing I knew, both dogs were piling up beside me too haha I actually loved it!!
Like any man feed them a good meal, and they are yours for a lifetime. Dog may be man's best friend, but woman is Dog's best friend.
hahaha that's it exactly!!
I love your new place, awesome 😎 Enjoy! Brian looks very good, I am happy for you guys 💕
Thank you so much @starjewel :) I've never been a morning person, but here, I can't wait to get out of bed in the morning!!
Oh WOW Lynn. I think I have to go and rob a bank now so that I can pop over for a sundowner with you and your Mexican Brian. What a stunning home. Those mosaics are lovely. And a cenote? Really? You couldn't have asked for more. Except maybe a secretary for all your typing so that you can stay in that chair calling your name. I type very well.......
hahaha I could dictate to you with a drink in one hand, and you would have to use both hands to type, but I'm sure we could rig up a hat with a straw or something!!
Thank you though! We just had a friend pop by who is Mexican and he couldn't believe what we had here and what we were paying :) It's so great when things work out!!
That is amazing. Friends of ours are returning to Mexico. Well he'll be returning as he is Mexican but she's South African. And he says the price of living has really gone up in recent years. I guess it's happening everywhere. So enjoy your treasure
We've been vacationing here for years and years (separately before we even knew each other, and we've watched the prices increase, but thankfully, we've figured out where the locals shop and eat, and the prices are still really cheap ... compared to Vancouver anyway!
Wow. That must really make the place extra special. And the fact that you two were destined for each other
Right? It's so interesting how many things Brian and I love where our ex's hated; so many times our paths unknowingly crossed in places we each used to go, by ourselves, because the spouse didn't want to. We really were "destined" I believe!

This is amazing. Looks like paradise on earth
Thank you so much @maxijgcomm! We sure think so :)
OH so HAPPY for you guys. The last place looked nice, but this really seems to put you guys in your element. You have art right there, the cenote pool and amazing view. Did I see that right...no stairs for you guys to climb to get in the apartment? That has to be a dream come true.
Thank you @tryskele! Everything is perfect, except for stairs, but Brian said it's an easy trade-off to deal with :)
You still have an amazing view. I think it's a fair trade :)
I totally agree! And you know, there's a studio on the main floor that he keeps open for 'travelers' :)
OOOOO... I really need to save money 😎
Please do!! :)
Congratulations, it looks splendid. It is the perfect place to feel at home.
Thank you so much @lsg4374 :) In just a few short days, it really does feel like home!
What an awesome place. I'd sure like to live in a spot like that. 😋
Thanks @trincowski! There's a studio for rent downstairs ... a perfect holiday spot :)
Wow! I think you guys lucked out on this one! It is absolutely gorgeous and the view! I can see why you are ecstatically happy here!
Thank you @cecicastor! We really did :)
How are things going in your neck of the woods?
About the same. I am learning to dance in the rain and o with the flow because it does not look like things are going to change anytime soon. As long as we are stuck here, I have no other choice but to make the best of the bad situation
That's a great attitude to have @cecicastor! Otherwise, your own pity party gets a little tiresome :)
I don't have time to have a pity party. I have people counting on me to keep it together and I need to try and find a way to get my family together so we can plan to take a long vacation somewhere less stressful...
Having people count on your is the best "push" I ever need. I truly hope you guys can manage something to get out of there!
We are working on it, but it is a slow process...
I had 2 real smart ass answer but, My joy for my two homies is overwhelming. So glad to hear that something good has come your way. About time. Now you have room for me to stay. LOL
awww thank you so much @wolfhart!! I've been thinking about you today and hope things are going as well as can be expected :)
There's actually two studios on the main floor, right beside the pool! Plan it buddy and I'll reserve one :)
All test have been Stopped. Bad result from today's test. we will talk later
I will keep that in mind.
Looks like a real nice place i love those mosaic Dolphins
Thank you so much @tattoodjay :) It's so beautiful, and yes, the dolphins are pretty awesome. I'll have to take photos sometime, but he's got all kinds of mosaic art in little alcoves around the pool too :)
That looks beautiful. I don't know what I like better, the animals or the mosaics. -- The animals. Beautiful cat and those dogs look like fun. Enjoy your new digs.
haha the animals for sure!! I went for a swim today and after was reading on one of the loungers. Before I knew it, both dogs were up there with me haha Brian and I have always had dogs and have missed having them around, so here we're able to love them without all of the responsibility haha
Thank you for stopping by @agmoore :)
Always trust a person who loves dogs--and cats--and birds--and....:)
Right!!???!! I've always felt the same way! Those who don't love animals, well, it's a bit of a character flaw I think :)
Sad for the animals, and sad for the people. They miss so much...
howdy lynncoyle1! oh my gosh that place is amazing, love the patio, the view, the cenote thing, wow! great find! what does something like that go for in rent?
I know, right??!! It's incredible, and all for the low price of about $500 US/month. That includes, water, electricity, gas, internet, tv ... all in!
In Vancouver, after we sold our houses, we rented for a bit to figure out what we were going to do, and at one point we were spending 3500/month for a two bedroom + den because both boys were with us then too.
hahaha! 3500/month!!! ha! that's insane. but oh my gosh 500 is fantastic! I'm so thrilled for you guys.
Yes, Vancouver's cost of living is up there with New York. It really is insane!
Thank you :) Brian said today that he's here to stay! :)
ok then..well it's a wonderful place, I love the patio and being on the second level, but there is no winter there right?
No winter like we know it. Believe it or not, but November, December and January is what the locals consider their winter ... the same months we gringos come here for a holiday LOL
wow well that simplifies things.
Looks like paradise! good for you two :)
Thank you so much @steven-patrick!! We feel so fortunate to say the least :)
Damn this is a really nice place! You guys really deserve this, enjoy it to the max. Your patio is even bigger than my garden hehe.
I'm missing some picture's from the pool while in use ;)
Thank you so much @guchtere! We're still shocked by the size of the patio ... it's like out outdoor apartment :)
hahaha pool in use pics ... gotcha!
Congratulations on the new place!
Your patio looks HUGE and you could practically live in it!
We do!! It's like our living room is just outside :) So awesome!! I hate to see night time come around because we've been loving the days so much out there!
Thank you @goldendawne :)
Congratulations! Your new place looks wonderful! An awesome view, beautiful artwork and of course a couple of dogs! Sheila would love those hammocks! Best of luck!
Thank you Roger! There's a hammock with Sheila's name on it if you guys ever decide to make it here :)
Yesterday I was in one of the loungers by the pool, and before I knew it, it became a chair for three ... me and the two dogs lol I LOVED it!!
Thank you for the invite! You are so sweet!
I can picture you in the lounger with the dogs! You need to take a photo!
You're welcome! And I mean it :)
Brian did take a photo, but I was in my bikini, wrestling with two dogs ... the photo ended up looking like this bizarre, animal-type soft porn hahaha
Hahaha! OMG! You bikini wresting with 2 dogs! There are people that would pay good money to see that!
You and Brian are one couple that we would definitely like to meet in person! Anything is possible... I never say never!!!
hahaha right! You can only imagine. Oh, and Ramona should be named Tongue or Licker haha Just add that into your mental picture too LOL
Never say never!!
Dogs surely sense the love and show it back 10 fold!
Wow! That's amazing, @lynncoyle1. Those dolphins, that pool,.. just everything looks so great. And look... even those plants are happy ;0)
I'm so happy for you guys that things turned out all okay, and you have that pretty place to live in.
Thank you so much @simplymike! Just today we asked the landlord about planting something in one of the pots and he said, "go ahead. This is your patio now" :)
Woohoo! Seems you got lucky with your landlord this time (that wasn't meant to sound as weird as it does, lol)
Posted using Partiko Android
bahahaha if you saw his picture, you would find it hilarious!!!
Hahaha! Can't you take one, very sneaky, and show it?
That's fantastic, and the dolphins are clearly a sign that it's the right place!
Thanks @edprivat ... that's exactly what I said :) It was just meant to be!
It's such a nice place, more spacious, no wonder you love it so much!
Thank you @joelai :) It just feels perfect!
I feel so happy for you guys!
awww thank you @joelai!!! That shows what a great person you are :)
(Blusing)
Love the new place !!! Glad to see you guys are doing well . 😊
Thank you so much @anonymity5 :) We're soooo happy with it!
Its you that makes my apartment feel like home my babyloooo
awwww and you that makes it feel the same for me <3 <3
@lynncoyle1,
Pina Colada. Enough said.
Quill
I hear you loud and clear!
I am way behind. I did want to see the new place. I could just live on that patio and be content. Wishing you many happy times there.
Thank you and apparently, I'm behind too. Eventually we'll catch up ... or not :)
There and the pool. Besides Brian's health, I cannot wish for a damn thing ;)
