Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love is all we need.
Love for our friends, our family and our chosen one.
Some people even have more than one partner to cherish.
To give your heart selflessly, expecting nothing in return is key.
That is why infants are so easy to love because in exchange for care,
They will give you a smile or the validation of seeing their growth.
What they are offering is intangible, it is a sense of purpose,
Validation that you can raise an individual.
There are asexuals who don’t necessarily believe in dating and still,
Love plays an important part in their lives.
The love for one’s self and for the people around us is strong.
We can choose to be a couple or single
But this decision is seldom final as every moment, we write the story of our lives.

I love my boyfriend Travis, I love how important it is for him to fight for minorities
And he doesn’t take our rights as gays for granted.
He loves all forms of love under the rainbow starting with Two-Spirited people
Who are guardians of this stolen land.
I love his sense of humour and if at times jokes turn into squanders, I always feel
Important in his eyes, he takes the time to clear misunderstandings.
He can be vulnerable and tell me when something I said opened an old wound.
It is a good feeling to care about someone I get to see everyday.
Someone open and honest, how I never want to take this feeling for granted.
Our unity dwarfs the disparity of this unaffordable city,
I would trade any wealth to spend a sunny day with him in the shade of a tree.
That’s how much he makes me happy.

Although I don’t currently own any pets, lets not forget the importance of the love we have for them and all their cuddles.
