Poem in tribute to word of the day: Kintsukuroi/wabi-sabi 爱 心碎

in #love7 years ago (edited)

Kintsukuroi or wabi-sabi is a Japanese word, we don't have it in English, a very basic meaning is 'more beautiful for having been broken' - it refers to broken pots that are sealed back together with gold, Screen Shot 2017-10-24 at 00.00.43.pngmaking them more beautiful, but the meaning is much more that that. Here is a poem in tribute to this word.

Humiliation

Long after his face became blurred around the edges
Been filed under
'Lucky escape'
she stayed in focus,
her elongating tank tops,
the fine red hair on the back of her long white neck,
I followed her
on Facebook
sometimes
and saw that she, in her nephews christening photos,
smiled the same smile
she had given me

I watched her home videos with
the same fascination as a Ted Bundy documentary,
wondered what it would be like to swing her round by the nose ring
until blood blotted out her smug little face
I saw her family and her new man;
The smiling, happy couple.
Wondering why she had taken
what she hadn't really wanted,
the dancing Salome in Herod's court,
mused if I could ever do the same
or if I had.
Remembered dating a married man at nineteen
thought of karma
Marvelled at women,
how they and only they can make another woman feel this worthless.

This is beautiful. I love the passage "Remembered dating a married man at nineteen thought of karma marveled at women, how they can make another woman feel this worthless".
