The environment is the natural world around us which plants and animals live. The environment is everything which makes up the surrounding of a living being . it consists of living beings as well as non- living things. We depend on the environment for all our needs. The environment provides us with food, water, air, clothes and other useful materials. Living organisms depend on each other for obtaining food and shelter.

Plants animals and micro - organisms depend s on one another for their survival. They also depend on their physical environment like soil, air, sunlight, water etc. eg: Plants, animals microorganisms are interdependent for their food and other basic requirement like oxygen, carbon dioxide, sunlight, water, soil etc. Without non- living things in the environment (like air, water, soil etc.cannot prepare their food and do not grow . Tf plants do not prepare food , herbivores would not get their food . If herbivores die due to lack of food ,carnivores would also die. The leaves of green plants contain small pores called stomata. They take carbon dioxide from the environment . Similarly Roots of plant absorb water and minerals from soil. The chlorophyll present in the leaves trops the solar energy . So , plant depeds on carbondioxide, water minerals and sunlight to prepare their food . this process is called photosynthesis . In this process , Oxygen gas is produced as by product and released through stomata. Animal take this oxygen for respiration and they exhale cacarbon dioxiden the environment. Animals excrete their waste product s like urin, stool, etcin the environment when plants and animals die, they are mixed in soil. Micro organisms like bacteria fungi etc act on dead bodies and waste products. They convert the complex compounds into simple substances which are mixed in the soil. Living being take air mixed in the soil. Living being take air , water and other substances from the environment and they release excess and unwanted materials in the environment. This phenomenon maintains a balance in the environment. All the plants and animals depend directly or indirectly on their environment . Similarly , Plant and animals play a great role to maitain a balance in the environment.
