From the west they sprang out
Herds cultured to nurse the civilized ego
Oh! Returned, they must to the field
Pasture greener than ever
Grasses bellowed in raging grace
Almighty heard our prayers!
Behold, they sized up to shepherds
Hopes of the bleating herds now dashed
Carcasses spread across lands
Numberless as the grasses
Sighs and grumbles of dismay
Settle for an abode in their hearts.
Woe to west or shepherds?
Unanswered they inquire
Hopeless herds nurtured bitterness
And fear
Staring at the skies for manna.

Steemians! This poem (Dark Heart) explains the deteriorating living standard of Nigerians as a result of bad leadership for over two decades. The cultured herds in the stanza 1 refer to the political gladiators with western education, with the hope of the common man that things are going to get better as obtained in the western world where they were trained.
Ironically, things turn sour for the masses who are referred to in stanza 2 as bleating herds. The sized up shepherds in stanza 2 are the leaders who grab power at all cost with zero commitment to ameliorate the suffering of the people of my dear country.
Stanza 3 highlights the regrets of the people who vote them into power looking onto God for succour.
Thanks for reading through this piece.
Badly politician
Really bad, they are.
Nigerian politicians are heartless breeds
Very heartless indeed.
The most annoying part is, if you have the means to try and tell these politicians of their wrongs, they start persecuting you.
So sad!
Hmmm
Hmm!
