RE: Romanticizing The Life of a Bandit (Literary Analysis)

in #literature7 years ago

is the reader’s ability to feel sympathy towards a character of malevolent and violent nature through John Rollin Ridge’s use of romanticism.

This ability is very interesting and useful in literature but is dangerous and terrible in real life. So many characters of our history has been praised as heroes by this kind of ability

I know maybe in the US there's a lot of misinformation about Ernesto Guevara, praised as a hero when in reality he was a terrible and murderous criminal and in Latin America where we know all the truth he is still praised as a hero by some groups, even when we are suffering the legacy of his ideology and his actions, or maybe, we are victims of all the literature that has exalted him as a hero

I know this have little to do with the post, but I was thinking about it when I was reading it

Great post, Upvoted and followed
