For my first post, I chose to start with some unusual cases of death. I can never just choose one to focus on, so I created a list with a short summary for each case. Enjoy.
Clement Vallandigham, Clement was a politician from Ohio, during the American Civil War he was the leader of the Copperhead faction of anti-war democrats.
In 1871, Clement was defending an accused murderer in court, during which he began doing a demonstration of how the victim had actually accidentally shot himself, when doing so he accidentally shot himself. He died in hospital a day later.
Great Molasses Flood In the winter of 1919, just two weeks into the new year, A large storage tank containing molasses had burst open and caused a wave of over 2 million gallons of molasses to rush through the streets of a north end neighborhood in Boston, MA at over 55kmph.
In total 21 people were killed and injuring 150
People claim to this day to still smell molasses..
Brandon Lee
In 1993, Brandon Lee, the son of Bruce Lee, was accidentally shot on set while filming The Crow.
Brandon also starred in, Kung Fu: The Movie, Rapid Fire, Laser Mission, and more..
Late March, just a few days before completing the movie, Brandon tragically was shot on set after misfiring a faulty prop gun, which fired a dummy round that had been lodged in the barrel. He was transported to a hospital in Wilmington, NC, where he ultimately died of his injuries after six hours of surgery.
The Crow was released over a year after Brandon's death, and went on to make over 50 million dollars, and today is still considered a "cult" classic.
Garry Hoy
Here's A Canadian one for you, Garry was a Lawyer in Toronto, ON. He was showing students during a tour, how the glass windows of the Toronto-Dominion Center's tower in the heart of downtown Toronto, were unbreakable. He slammed himself into the window and tragically the window broke and he fell from the 24th floor to his death. Ultimately, it wasn't the glass itself that broke, but rather the frame.
Rest In Peace
Taylor Mitchell
Taylor was a 19 year old Canadian country singer from Toronto, ON. In 2009 she was in Cape Breton, NS, and in spare time between concerts had gone to the Cape Breton National Highland Parks. Two American tourists near the Skyline trail reported hearing either an animal howling or a girl screaming in the distance. Shortly after a group of tourists, including the American's and others, along with enforcement efforts, had found her bloodied, with a Coyote standing over her. She was still alive, conscious, and talking at this point. She had bites all over her body, from what was believed to be a pack of coyotes.
Taylor was taken to a hospital in Cheticamp, and airlifted to a hospital in Halifax where she ended up succumbing to her injuries.
