A few months ago, I have written an article on "How to maximize your profit in LISK voting". But have you ever wonder how many LISK per day that each delegate in the top 101 "forge"? In this article, I have done some simple calculations on the earnings as well as expressed my thoughts on the halving event "soon-to-come".
1. Delegate Forging Reward
In order to calculate the earnings, we need the block generation time and delegate cycle information. According to the official FAQ on the official Lisk website (www.lisk.io) and chain explorer (https://explorer.lisk.io/), at the time of this article:
- Block reward is 5 LSK
- Block time is 10 seconds, take 101 delegates into account, we would have 1010 seconds (~ 17 minutes)/ round. (Source: https://docs.lisk.io/docs/faq-network#section-how-long-is-a-delegate-round-)
- Now, since I want to be as much precise as possible, let's take seconds into our formula. Thus we would have earnings per day for each delegates:
- Blocks forged per day = (24 hours * 60 minutes * 60 seconds) / (1010 seconds Delegate cycle time) = ~85.5 blocks
- Not only delegates get the default 5 LSK reward per block, they also earn the transaction fees (currently 0.1 LSK / tx) if there are any in that block. Let's assume the they would get the basic 5 LSK WITHOUT any tx fee
Earnings per day = 85.5 blocks * 5 =427 LSK / day ==> 1 month is roughly 12 831 LSK
(assuming all delegates are 100% succeed in forging blocks - no down time)
2. Halving Incoming
I believe many of you have heard about the halving "soon-to-come". So when exactly it is? According to the Lisk protocol reward:
At the time writing this article, we are at block 4124088. The next milestone is at block 4451520. Put that into the same formula above, we would have:
Numbers of blocks left * Blocks time = (4451520 - 4124088)*10 seconds= 327432 seconds = ~ 38 days left
Thus the next reward "halving" is around 18th November 2017
3. Verdict
If you want to know how much delegates are "sharing their rewards" with you, you can either go to https://www.dpostools.com/LISK or https://www.earnlisk.com . So you can easily see that most delegates share from little as 5% to 100% of their rewards (yea, from nearly 13000 LSK / month). I know that many of them are actively contributing to the network and community; however, i also believe that not-a-small number of delegates are actually doing nothing but just pooling together, manipulating the network while sharing little rewards.
Furthermore, the halving will reduce our voters' earnings for 20% (from 5 LSK/block to then 4 LSK). Then later, when LSK increases in price, I believe we truly need to research and to only vote for those who actively contribute to the network.... because it will cost us more to vote and change votes!
So what do you think?

nice post thanks for Informations, i have already invested in LSK and will more and more accumulate into this coin. upvoted and resteemed !
wow so much information :O makes sense indeed
Great info, thanks for posting. Resteemed and upvoted.
This is very insightful. Although LSK and ARK both originated from Crypti, I would say ARK has a far more advanced voting system.
Very useful information. Keep up the great work :D

Hello! The voting system is very important. The community must mobilize to elect the best delegates. We are seeing many who do nothing but enrich themselves.
